Default Any other Ex Californianís getting a delay? Updated

Went into my local LGS to get a firearm and got a delay/ hold on getting my firearm. I have an AZ license, so I am a resident. Wondering if anyone else has gone thru this after they escaped the iron curtain? Next is a CCW ! Was told this would avoid this kinda of delay. LGS will give me the firearm in three days if no reply.

Was called when the LGS opened this morning and told I cleared.

The day my NV drivers license appeared in the mail I went into the LGS and pointed at the counter and said THAT ONE!

His response: "You just moved from CA didn't you"

mine: "Yeah. Ok, I just want another Glock pls. But make it a Gen 4."

Background went through immediately no issue. Just took CCW class today. In 120 days I can buy another gun with no such nonsense.

Vegas takes 120 days to process CCW.

My first purchase in Virginia was delayed a couple hours, but I've never been more than a minute after that.

Good to hear. I figured whom ever pushes the approval button has probably gone home for the day, So hoping it gets cleared tomorrow. Just hate my rights being delayed when I have zero criminal record or anything pending.

The turn around time is about 95 days avg from Nevadans who applied. Clark county processed about 80k for 2019 per fingerprints processor at LV metro pd.

Here in Texas, I purchased two firearms without my LTC (license to carry), and they took 30-40 minutes. After getting my LTC (which took 9 days after turning in all paperwork), my subsequent gun purchases have taken less than 15 min.

They had no idea I moved from CA. Why should they?

Here in Oregon my first purchase, a Colt SP1, took several weeks but after that never more than 10 minutes.
I had some "legal issues" in a previous century that I had to explain to our Sheriff but got my CCW in a reasonable time.

When I lived in AZ I would get a delay every time. Saw a Border Patrol agent get a delay too. Get your CCW so you can avoid it.

What sucks is that we "need" to have a CCW in California, even more so than other states, because crime is getting worse and we cannot defend ourselves outside of the home. Ughh!!!

I didnít have any delays purchasing when i moved. Took like 15 minutes. Got a CWP issued after about two weeks here. No more back ground checks at all now. Total time in and out is how ever long it takes them to look over the 4473.

My first purchase in AZ was delayed. All the way to three days. Dealer just handed the guns over after that. After that I got my CCW, never had to do a NICS check since.

Try this.

Buddy of mine and I both un-arsed Kalifornia for Texas from the same small town in NorCal where we both lived for decades. Me (and wife) in 2015, him a year or so later. I have bought/transferred-in guns here, no problem. Now have my LTC.

So a few months back, the two of us are in a local shop and decide to each buy a Glock. This is his first gun buy here. He goes first, and gets denied. Here's the thing--back in Kalifornia, I was his FFL. I KNOW he's clean. We explain this to the shop as an FYI, thank them for their time, and leave.

He is pursuing the issue. Along the way, he has had to get copies of records. In dealing with public servants here, he has had more than one say "If you don't mind my asking, by chance are you from California?". When he replies "Yes", they say "Yeah. We've been getting a lot of this lately".

He has since found that there is no issue with the Feds. The issue is with the LA County Sheriff's Dept. Talk about WTF, over. His attorney is on the case.

No delay. But, I have an Enhanced Idaho permit that removes the requirement for a NICS check.

Never delayed but my first order was placed the day that Obama said he would ban all AW. I placed an order with Buds for a Scorpion EVO and a Yugo PAP pistol and they canceled my order. The reason given was I had once placed an order and had it shipped to California. I got into an argument with them that the FFL was in Idaho, I was a permanent resident of Idaho and it didn't make any sense.

Anyway long story short they wanted me to email them some documentation like a DL or something but IIRC they had jacked up the prices and the PAP was OOS or something like that. I just placed the order with Tombstone instead.

ETA my brother is sworn LEO here in Idaho and he was delayed his first purchase.. lol

Wow what the hell is AZ doing delaying gun purchases?? Maybe they're getting closer to CA style waiting periods than I thought. I didn't even have my official driver's license yet when I bought my first two guns here, only the paper printout I got after I passed the DMV test, however it did have my photo on it, so it counted as a photo ID. I waited about 10 minutes for the background check and the 4473 process, but never longer than that.

Nope. The last pistol I bought took about 20 minutes. He was on the phone or whatever with NICS for about 8-10 minutes. He handed me the pistol and pointed me at the concealed holsters and told me to go try them out while I was waiting.

First purchase was about 15 minutes... a couple others around 30 min...

Three others were delayed - two in a row and another between one of the 30 minute purchases.

They tell me its random... I just need to get a ccw so I dont have to deal with it... its towards the bottom of a long list of things to do.
