I'm ordering a RIA 1911 Match from CenterfireSystems.com so I am looking for an FFL in the OC area. Any recommendations or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Also, if you're an FFL and would like my business please feel free to drop me a pm.

I used kemasa in Simi Valley for my DS (found him on this forum)....$25 for the transfer, $25 for the dros...it was from a private party so there was no tax involved. All in all, I was quite satisfied.

Okay, so I want to purchased a stripped custom OLL and have it shipped here... does anyone know of a dealer that charges less than $65+DROS+tax, the closer to Burbank the better?
After reviewing this thread, I guess the fee isn't as outrageous as I'd initially thought, so I guess I'll just have to suck it up if I can't find something better... Thanks!

FYI regarding Sharpshooter:
I had my first FFL transfer experience with Sharpshooter in Torrance, and it will be certainly my last with that FFL shop. I ordered a new shotgun from AI&P Tactical shotguns and had it sent to Sharpshooter in Torrance. The weapon arrived on 1/11/12, but I was not notified. I called on 1/13, and again on 1/20. Both times I was told, for sure, the shotgun had not arrived. I became suspicious and contacted AI&P. AI&P confirmed that it had been received and had a signature dated 1/11. I called Sharpshooter back, and indicated we had a confirmed delivery on 1/11. A moment later after another check, Sharpshooter found the shotgun - 9 days after I was to be notified. Furthermore, the representative offered no explanation for the delay, no fee adjustment was given for the inconvenience, and they charged me $10 for a lock on a new weapon which was not required to be installed upon departure. Furthermore, I found the Sharpshooter representative to be surly and condescending. Those are the facts, and I EMPHATICALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND SHARPSHOOTER, in Torrance. Regards, Single6 PS: As an aside, I highly recommend AI&P Tactical Shotguns - J.D., the owner, is fantastic! |

We do not charge a fee but you still need to pay DROS and possibly sales tax depending upon where the weapon is coming from. California Tactical's phone number is 916-787-4045. I am not saying that your other points are not 100% valid, but these two points I mention tend to be industry standards with brick and mortar shops and it wouldn't matter where you go the dealer isn't going to tell you your gun is in and they are going to require you to have a lock or a safe affidavit.

Yes. Before the weapon left AI&P, I asked Sharpshooter about the notification process and I was told you would be called as soon as the weapon was delivered. Regardless, Sharpshooter was unable to find the delivered weapon after my two calls, a week apart. Furthermore, after my first inquiry call on 1/13, I again asked how soon after delivery does Sharpshooter call, the response was a snide response: "the very minute".
My unfamiliarity with the lock issue is due to my own ignorance, since this was the first time I had gone through the FFl transfer process. I still recommend that one avoid Sharpshooter, and rather support a more competent and customer friendly organization. |

The sales tax laws did not change. The view of the BOE changed, but the main part is the same as it has been for over a decade.

No, actually only FFLs being informed of a law that they should have already known about. The only difference now is with firearms from out of state from private parties being subject to sales tax.

Can anyone recommend an FFL near San Ramon for a PPT transfer? I'm selling a rifle to another calgunner, and we're looking for somewhere around the 680/580 interchange. I'm in Livermore, so J&R's would be one option, but that's an added drive for the buyer.
Thanks for any suggestions! |

FYI regarding Sharpshooter:
I have used Sharpshooters for years.... I am sorry that Single6 had a bad experience.... Once the staff gets to know you and your skill level, they are a great indoor range.... one of the only places in Southern Cali that lets you shoot for the holster and or concealment... again once they know you and your skill level... |

I went to a shop that was new to my yesterday-
http://crosshairsusa.net/ 3902 Pacific Coast Hwy Torrance, CA 90505 The shop carries mainly LEO type of firearms and they do stock Blue Label boxes.... They charge $35 for a Web purchase... I was impressed by the people working in the store. The shop has an American Flag and a USMC flag out on PCH.... |

Hey CalGun Members…New member here. I have my first CCW interview scheduled in October and have a couple of questions regarding the guns I will add to my list of carried weapons. 1) I wish to transfer ownership of one of my wife’s guns to my ownership. Is there a special process for this? 2) I purchased a gun in the 1980’s and would like to make sure this gun is registered in my name before I add it to my CCW paperwork. Would anyone recommend a FFL in the Elk Grove area?

Looking for shop in Fresno/Clovis/Madera area. Reasonable pricing a plus, but customer service a MUST!
I'm willing to pay a bit more at a shop that treats me right.

Looking for FFL01 for C&R transfer from out-of-state-unlicensed seller to FFL03-licensed me in San Francisco Bay Area. All the transferrees I've contacted so far will only deal with out-of-state-FFL01s.... Frustrating. Thanks!

I don't know of any, but since it is coming from a private party, if it is an occasional sale, not from a business, then it is not subject to sales tax since you have an C&R FFL. Some FFLs might not know that. Documentation can be provided, if needed.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not worried about the tax--it's just finding someone who will do the transfer from a non-FFL at all. I want to keep things easy for the seller; after all, the problem is with California, not with the seller.

Just to follow up, UG Imports in Fremont does this. Quick and easy transaction with them. Even accepted my FFL03 and COE for same-day pick-up. If only they were closer to SF--it is a bit of a hike.

I had a fantastic experience with Mike @ Pacific Coast Fire Arms.
Mostly E-mail communication which is just perfect for me as I sit behind a desk all day. Mike is a great guy and a professional business man. I have never had such a great experience as I had with Pacific Coast Fire Arms. Answers all of your questions, very diligent and is by far the Cheapest I have found $25 + $25 + Tax. If anyone is interested email > nfo@pacificcoastfirearms.com Cheers ![]() |

I am looking for an FFL located close to San Francisco to perform an SSE and transfer on a Dan Wesson Valor. I can either purchase the Valor directly and have hit shipped to the FFL or simply purchase the entire package from the FFL (depending on if the FFL can acquire the handgun).

Any recommendations for an FFL to do a handgun transfer in the Glendale/Burbank area for less than $85? Once A Pawn A Time does them for $85 (including DROS), but I have yet to find anyone charging less.
