Well if you offended your next door neighbor Karen, she's gonna order an "extreme threat" restraint against you without you even knowing about it and uniformed officers come knocking to take away ALL your guns. That is Bonta's real goal here. And even more, once you got "red flagged" even if you were proven innocent later, if there is no "disposition" in the records, I can see some POS assembly person propose a "red flagger map" like the one for molesters, search the map to see your local "red flaggers" near you.

There is also a way to look up any firearms purchases, so through either method you could theoretically become a robbery target. And the general mantra of Always Carry, Never Tell becomes a little more moot

To "improve transparency" the general public now has an easy dashboard with which to find the name, birth dates, home addresses and business addresses of all CA CCW holders.

They publish personal information on ccw permit holders? So the state is basically providing a road map for criminals who want to steal guns. Absolutely disgusting. This happened in NYS several years ago on a media FOIL request and there was a significant increase in thefts. Incredibly irresponsible.

Yep, and you can cross reference DROS records by county and DOB for a rough shopping list.

this just came out today and i assume this portal was already open for UC Davis ( for research purposes you know )
and then today they made this portal available for peasants like us and boom now we can see database was already there

ALL CCW holders need to be vigilant. Keep a secure home and inform family in your home what could happen. Even if you gave up your CCW you will be on this list for years. Criminals now have a perfect shopping list, anti gun kooks can now seek out people to harass. Let's hope it's minimal. The only thing going is it's the entire state so it's a lot of people.

OTOH, it is not the case that only folks of the anti-gun persuasion might get some value from this.

Ever wonder how many people own guns? That's a researcher's problem from way back, but it sounds like a real count, at least to the limits of the data, might be possible.

Map that to crime - oh look, John Lott is right, more guns do NOT correlate with more crime.

Take that conclusion to court cases - the state in fact is not doing anything useful with its laws - they are not narrowly tailored to address a problem, so the laws are impermissible.

It's still up; it's trivially easy to download the entire dataset. You can even find your entire firearm purchase history...

If you have a CCW (or even applied for one) it's the whole shebang: name, DOB, gender, race, address, and using that information you can cross reference the FSC dataset to find your DL#, and using your DOB and gender and race you can crossreference the DROS data to find your entire purchase history. Yeesh

Over 500,000 CCW holder's personal info. A lot more thar 145,000.

no matter how many. 5 to 5,000,000,000 this is just wrong. wasn’t there a case made that auto license plates can’t be traced as a matter of protection from random threats of stalkers, etc? it was in the last century But Somehow this is reckless and dangerous.

Maybe it is the Run Them Out of California ploy. The gang-bang home invasions are likely already in progress.
