Default Is an assembled AR lower without an upper or stock featureless?

Trying to figure out exactly what configuration my AR lower needs to be in to sell it.

I prefer not to have to strip it down.

Do I need to add a fin grip and fixed stock? Or can I just remove the stock, leave the 5 position tube and call it a day?

An AR lower is just a lower. It does not need ANY special configuration (legally speaking).

However, you should check at the shop you plan on selling it at what is acceptable to them. I've heard some shops only sell complete lowers with mag locks or fin grips for example.

technically it isn't relevant, because a lower is neither centerfire, nor semi-automatic. Therefore it cannot be an "assault weapon". There's no such thing as "featureless" concerns until the firearm has an upper.

All answers above are correct. But a lot of FFL's have caved in and may not transfer it without a fin or removal of the stock. As you will find that no shop I have ever been into will sell a complete lower receiver with pistol grip and adjustable stock installed.

A complete, but separated lower receiver is not a semiautomatic firearm. Therefore not an assault weapon.

California Code of Regulations. 11 CCR (hh) (3) With regards to an AR-15 style firearm, if a complete upper receiver and a complete lower receiver are completely detached from one another, but still in the possession or under the custody or control of the same person, the firearm is not a semiautomatic firearm
