Default PSA STG-44 Reproduction Unveiled Shot Show 2023

This going to be fun. Palmetto State Armory showed off an upcoming release - a reproduction of the famous STG-44 from the Second World War.

I hope they get it into production. If they do, I will absolutely buy one.

Is there any weapon of it’s type where the magazine is more of a physical hinderance than that of the Stg-44?

My issue with repros like this is I only want it if it's a 100% faithful reproduction, warts and all. Same materials, same finishes, same caliber, etc. Because otherwise it looks like a crappy kit Ferrari body on a Fiero.

Although I’d love a good reproduction, I’m the opposite when it comes to the chambering, I’d rather not stock an almost non existent ammo. Lived too many times through shortages under Democrat Party rule.

The roll marks aren’t correct anyway and it isn’t select fire.

Eh, if everything else was the same, manufacturer's markings could be anything AFAIC. I mean, I KNOW it's a new gun, I'm not looking to fool anyone. And obsolete chamberings are part of the fun.

Only if you don't care about shooting the gun.

I rather have it rechambered in a modern and easily available caliber so lots of ppl can enjoy it.

You've got nothing to worry about. PSA making it in a weird cartridge body can get? Unpossible. The want people to shoot their stuff. They also want to sell a lot of them. There aren't enough weird nutballs that would buy a 7.92 kurz to make it worth their while.

Kind of cool, kind of meh. Expensive toy for those who simply want something cool, nothing wrong with that. I bet if they ever ship it, they'll sell quite a few of them, even at $2k.

For me, I have a Denix replica M3 Grease Gun because I knew that even if I lived in America, I could never afford a transferable M3, so I got the replica to at least be able to feel what one is like. I'd do the same with the this, $269.00 and keep it on a shelf to show friends and family. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/960349216

8x that amount of money to take one to the range to shoot, in semi-auto, wouldn't be worth it (for me). This won't do anything better or even as well an AR or AK, other than look cooler. Guess if you want to impress your range buddies, this would be fun? Only reloaders would want the 8mm Kurz chambering but most reloaders I know are cheap and wouldn't drop $2k on a "fun" gun so 9mm and .223 probably make the most sense, maybe 7.62x39 would be a good chambering?

7.62 x 39 makes the most sense to me. It's what was copied from the original cartridge.

Recent comments fron Shot Show suggest one gun with swapping barrels in 4 calibers. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KWt_x22nwjk

If..IF..IFFFF it comes out, it will sell in those calibers. PSAs Retro line is selling like hot cakes. alot of New shooters are eating every gimmick these companies are putting out.

I've wanted that HMG that never came out but only in the OG caliber. Anything else would feel sacrilegious.

I have a few AR's and AK's and quite frankly they have become a bit boring lately. I am looking forward to a reasonably decent copy of a Stg44 just for the uniqueness of it. Right now I am planning on getting one in 8mmKurz as I have a pretty decent supply of recent production PPU. I'm also thinking of getting at least one other in a different cartridge.

I can see that. I have been considering a few bullpup rifles for essentially the same reasons, but I can't get past California's stupid 30" OAL minimum on a rifle, that negates the whole reason to buy a bullpup. They cost about the same as this will at MSRP. I love my ARs and AK but it's always nice to have an alternative, especially for range fun.

If and when you get it, enjoy!

Ian just did a video and he said they really expect it to be out by the end of the year. They plan to have it in 7.92 kurz, but more interesting to me is .300 Blackout. Look up their ballistics, nearly identical.

Hmm, the video speculates that PSA is working off the HMG technical package for the STG. That was my kneejerk reaction too upon hearing the news.

Imagine what the Gunbroker flippers will sell them for on Gunbroker once they ship. I bet $3k easily. A real transferable one is $40-$60k.

For those familiar with the StG-44, how faithful a reproduction is this PSA gun to the real thing? Is it like the AK-V to the Vityaz, Brownells BRN180 to the Armalite AR180, or more like the KUSA KP9 to the Vityaz, the repro Colt XM-177 E2 to the Vietnam area gun?

See this thread for video of full explanation and plans:

https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1841278

The video mentions the lawsuit concerning HMG has been resolved, and PSA is picking up where that left off. People that had deposits with HMG will get the PSA guns first, at the original price ( lower ) that they bought in at, and then PSA will start getting it out to the masses.

The difference between the everlasting HMG pipe-dream and PSA taking up the task, is that PSA is better funded and better capable, with logistics support, to get it done.

It will happen, no doubts, and likely even sooner than estimated.

I WANT! 300 BLK is a virtual ballistic twin to 7.92x33 Kurz.

Handled an original when I was 18 (1970). Wanted one ever since!

It looks better than that just from the pics. The Brownells BRN180 is forged upper whereas the real AR180 is folded sheetmetal upper and lower.

I had a few of the HMG guns pre-ordered. Got a refund after waiting over 2 years.
Rumor has it these will also be able to accept HK packs.
I'd still look for a PTR44 instead or have a parts kit made. I had both the PTR44 and a Lewman Arms parts built in my shop for calgunners and they were very nice.

Butttttt......

In 300 BLK it would be sick! The 125 grain BLK (7,62x35) is ballistically identical to the 7.92x33mm KURZ. Everybody love the 300 BLK.
