Just recieved approval this morning on day 91. Maybe they start counting the days starting after your interview though so it could be day 90. Have you heard back yet?

Well, I reached out and asked for my ATI and then checked it.
“Applicant Transaction Not Found. Please Contact the Agency that Requested the Background Check.” Confirmed with records that the ATI I was provided and checked was correct. They’re going to follow up with the DOJ today as there are several other missing fingerprint results. |

This may be a little off topic and this may not be the right group for this question.
I am thinking about changing the stock trigger on my Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 1.0 with the Hyve Technologies Monarch trigger. Does anyone know if this would violate any policies for San Diego County Sheriffs department, since this is one of my carry guns. The trigger swap does not alter the trigger pull in any way. I also emailed the CCW unit, but have not received a response as of yet. https://hyve-technologies.com/produc...the-mp-shield/ Can anyone share their thoughts or experiences with these kinds of modifications? Thank you for your response! I just don’t want to do anything that is going to violate any policies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My 2c. Make your gun shoot the best it possibly can, any circumstance where your mods will be called into question will be dwarfed by 20 other things, and if your mods make you shoot better or more comfortable/inclined to carry then pros > cons. 99.99% of CCWers will never actually fire their weapon (number out of my *** guesstimate). The only real material case where mods might make a difference is in an accidental/negligent shooting of some kind. Anything else is a SD claim - you intended to shoot the perp, and the mods will be less relavent. |

Good deal! Thanks for your input and I do hear of some folks running Apex triggers etc, but I do know that different IA’s have different rules and regulations. Now that you have given me some Insight and clarification on the trigger changes yourself and a friend made, that puts my mind at ease. I think I am going to move forward with the swap out. Yes I never EVER want to be in a position to have to use my weapon. CCWing is definitely a lifestyle change and I’ve learned that it’s all about situational awareness and to avoid conflict at all cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes it is a long wait. It’s crazy that it takes that long to do a 10 minute permit pick up. I waited 3.5 weeks before I could pick up mine and I was in and out within 10 minutes. I personally don’t know why it has to be by appointment only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Picked up my permit today.
I received a credit card version and a paper version. I was surprised when the clerk informed that the credit card version is not "official". She said I should carry both or just the paper version. Seems stupid. The information is identical on both the credit card and paper version. |

Gotcha thanks, trying to optimize things to fit into one of these minimalist wallets I just got. I guess the plastic card is going in the drawer then and I'll just carry around the paper one.

Also read the Sheriff's site... Quote:
Also, if you/your friend uses utility bills for proof of residence, expect the sheriff's department to ask you to updates these in the system with your most recent bills before you go in. They may literally call you the night before your appointment so be ready for this. Or simply update them proactively when it gets close.

I finished my training class at Discount Gun Mart on 9/11 and emailed my certificate on 9/13. I got an October 5th date to pick up my permit.

How was your DGM training experience? Mine have been great. Kyle and Patrick are fantastic.

Anyone notice the application interview dates are out to Feb 2023 now...
Somewhere just recently the current upcoming months like oct nov dec have disappeared and all of 2022... Oh well...No word yet on my Nov 29th interview. Whats the typical notification before your appt? one month, one week before? |

Also, available permitium dates aren't really accurate, from my understanding appts are being managed manually by sdso. For example, I already had my interview, but permitium doesn't reflect this and says my appt is coming up because sdso didn't change my appt within permitium when my appt got moved up manually. Do we know anything about the approval vs denial ratio?

Why? Getting a CCW isn’t a game of chance: you’ve either got sufficient GC with proof and GMC or you don’t. Since applicants vary month to month, so will approvals and denials.

The reason I'm curious is I'm trying to get a handle on roughly how many applications they process a month as opposed to the number they receive. If I know the acceptance vs denial rate, I can calculate that.

Traditionally the staff at Lic Bureau telegraphs applicants that they're wasting their cash. People are effectively denied off the books when they don,t pay their fees and get fomerly denied. I think this is still going on and I'm a witness going back to 1994. The Sheriff himself has been called out in past stating " Ninety % of applicants are approved". Of course 90% are approved if you got a chubby lady (or sworn LEO) with blue hair telling you you're a dummy to give them your hard earned frog skins for nothing!

But fortunately at this time it's not uncommon for some clerks to help an applicant "massage" their good cause statement. Times change after great effort is exerted.

That matched my experience, they seem to go out of their way to get you to submit something they will approve rather than deny.
