True.

The title of the thread was simply “places you...would not carry.”

Regardless of 280 status in California, (the answers have ranged outside of that constraint), my response was simply, I would not carry on the reservation because it is still sovereign land, and wouldn’t cater to CA CCW rules.

The Morongo status seems to support this thought.

Along with (only a brief sample):
Quote:
Red Hawk Casino and the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians
Possession or carrying of any firearms or illegal weapons is prohibited
Quote:
Thunder Valley Casino Resort; United Auburn Indian Community
Our Code of Conduct is as follows:
-All Guests in gaming areas must be 21 years of age.
-Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
-Possession or carrying of any firearms or illegal weapons is prohibited.
Quote:
Table Mountain; Chukchansi band of Yokuts and the Monache tribe.
The following is our Code of Conduct, strictly enforced by our Team Members:
-All guests must be 18 years of age or older
-Possession or carrying of any firearms or illegal weapons is prohibited.
Now, one can whine all they want about 280 allowing, “...possession or carrying of any firearms...”, but the differentiation between “any firearms” and “illegal weapons” seems to indicate that “legal” firearms are included in “any”.

The arbiters of the decision are the Native Americans on their sovereign land.

I won’t carry there.

explain how if you drank 1 beer 2 beers or whatever..and you were then attacked with GBI or death, you use your firearm and you are worried that I drank a beer?

If you are using your firearm you must of been in GBI or death path. To worry about a beer on your breath compared to you being dead or permanent head injury..you are worried about that?

That doesn't make logical sense..but luckily we can all make our own choices.

I don’t think it’s on the holder will have an issue with that if it’s a good shoot in a state that doesn’t prohibit drinking and carrying IMO.

It’s the civil defense that may have a field day.

Or if it’s a questionable shooting, the BAC may be used to show impaired judgement and may not have fired if one was sober.

Otherwise, if drinking and carrying when prohibited (CA, and some other states), you were technically illegal CC and your permit was invalid during that time.

SF Pride Parade. If you say “I am carrying a gun”, the front of your pants will be unzipped so fast, you won’t be able to run!

Apparently not at the aquatic center in Havasu.

Are there any weapons that aren't deadly? Asking for a friend.

Be careful with carrying at church...if they have a k-5 or whatever on campus it is considered a school. Just a heads up

Eric Gardner can explain. In that case, Gardner was out numbered and getting the crap kicked out of him. “Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Grippi said Friday the shooting appeared to be in self-defense. “We felt there was sufficient evidence we couldn’t overcome self-defense,”.

So, they were looking for more than unlicensed/concealed/loaded carry. Fortunately, they couldn’t reach ADW.

Regardless, it beats having your brains kicked to mush.

Pretty much. I leave it home or in the lockbox if I plan on drinking. Otherwise I carry.

Going to visit someone in hospital....

Say you have a few things to do in the day
So you are carrying
And on the list is a stop to visit someone in hospital

I actually carry lots of places most of you wouldn't or shouldn't. And I'm usually printing pretty obviously. The sheep are clueless. LEO's and people who carry often notice my print. But the response from LEO's has always been the same. I watch them scanning the crowd, then their eyes lock on my print. They then immediately look me in the eyes. I smile, they nod, I nod back and they go back to scanning the crowd. Some how they just know I'm a good guy, something about being the old guy with 80's hair band hair I guess. On a few occasions i have actually had them wave me over and let me by pass a metal detector. Always without a saying a word. Happens so often my wife now jokes about it.

You seem proud that you are "obviously printing".

Is it a rush for LEO to notice you are printing but not gun you down, tackle you or interview with you?

Concealed means concealed.

Everyone should be dressing around their CCW.

Please do share these metal detector areas where LEO is present and just wave you over without a single word.. Disneyland? Courthouses? Airports?

I do dress a little different nowdays...
You have to stop and think ,,going thru the closet ..
'Will This shirt cover well '
I wear some Charlie Sheen shirts sometimes
Or shirts that are cut just a little bigger
And have caught myself looking in the closet door mirror

Does It Show ?????

Unless you are a patient, what would be the reason for not carrying into a hospital? It's not a magic GFZ is it? I guess even a patient could do it off body?

In addition to the kinds of places mentioned above, I would say not at a bank. As far as I'm aware it's legal in CA, but I don't feel comfortable doing so myself. From what I recall there are some states where it's not allowed.

The Bank .
Is exactly another reason I Do carry
I actually added that to my G.C. letter
My bank is next to a large park in the middle of town.
It has Lots of Bums and homeless , have had a few come over ' bumming ' for money
Once I intervened when a bum was hassling an older couple for a ride,, Told him to move on ....

And being a contractor I'm either depositing checks of walking out with Cash .... And they watch who's going in and out

Interesting perspective . . . if I were in your line of work that would make a difference at the bank.

The only places I don't carry are the places I'm not allowed to carry or where I'm subject to search upon entry (courthouse). If the people I know don't like me carrying while attending, then they can just not invite me to participate in their whatever function/party.

So far that list of non-invites is zero because either they know and approve, or they don't know and I don't tell them.

Willie Sutton, a legendary bank robber, was (allegedly) asked, “Why do you rob banks?” Sutton allegedly replied, “Because that’s where the money is.” {Sutton always denied he was asked, but also said if he had been, he would have said it...it’s that obvious.}

I carry in the bank all of the time. The tellers/staff are all behind plexiglas; there are no armed guards. That leaves you and the general population lumped together.

The bums or other folks watching the bank don’t know/care what your profession is. They only know you are either bringing goodies in or taking goodies out.

That makes you a target; they just need to figure out when to hit.

But, the point is pretty clear...certain places provide better targets of opportunity.
