Default San Diego BLM clean and shoot ! (Date and location coming soon)

Since BLM land in SD county is now open again due to lowered fire restrictions,we are planning to have a clean up in late January - early February 2020.

Usually there is some heavy use after Xmas when people get all their new toys and new shooters tend to make their way out to public land.

The clean up area usually includes Pink Gate , and several other areas nearby that usually need some attention after the holidays .

We will send out some scouts after Xmas to see what areas need some work.

If anyone is interested in helping out ,
Send me a message and I can give you more information.
Once we get the date and location nailed down, I will update this thread .

We always need more volunteers and donations.
You can go to www.sdmust.org for more about getting out and getting involved locally.

I was out at BBM on Saturday. We spent about 3 hours shooting and when we left, our area looked cleaner than when we arrived. Guys, don't take clay pigeons out there. The whole place is God's country.

I would travel down there all the way from NorCal if I could keep the brass I find. I’ll bring a shovel and bucket .

Plus I would visit my uncle.

I've never been out to any BLM land to shoot but want to - and help cleanup.

What's the road condition like to get out there where the cleanup is taking place? Do you need a 4x4 or truck?

Howdy all, new to the site. So Iíve recently purchased a Rem 700 and AK but canít find anywhere to shoot. Iíve traveled the world as military contractor so Iím not used to CA laws. Sucks that I have guns I canít use because I canít find any outdoor long distance ranges to get my new guns dialed in. Buddy told me about BLM land which is new to me so I found these forums.

Iíve heard a lot about Pink Gate. Iím interested in going to shoot and learning the SoCal/BLM rules. Also to access BLM land, do I need a 4x4?

Iíd also like to mention that I live in Lakeside and rent a house on some land that my landlord also lives on and runs a metal fabrication shop that does everything from make signs to building off road vehicles. I only mention this because I have a lot of metal that can be used for targets. Iíve notice people have been asking about targets. I also am willing to volunteer weekends to assist with clean ups.

Thanks. Mike

I second this! Please don't take clay pigeons. Especially in the desert. They never "bio degrade" and are an eyesore not to just fellow shooters but to other's that are less understanding of the 2nd Amendment. Don't give the anti gun crowd anything more to use as an excuse to shut down our few areas that remain.

We are headed out to Pink Gate on Sunday (1/26/2020) morning from 8-11AM. we will have free trash bags and will be doing some education on proper targets and other information to help keep it clean and safe out there .
No 4x4 needed . Parking is right alongside the road , and everything needs to be packed in and out . If anyone with disabilities needs help getting to the shooting areas , please send me a message beforehand if possible , or let us know when you arrive so we can help navigate to the area we will be set up .

Many cleanups going on? Obviously distancing would be good.

There was one today on the 25th. Ya just missed it. It was listed on the sdmust Facebook page and there was a post in this forums. Should be a few below this one.

I didn't make it but looks like they cleaned up a lot of trash.

I'm in for future cleanups. I've only been in San Diego for a month. I have a pickup truck that can do some offroading if needed. If somebody has a trailer that we could load garbage into I could tow that too.

Welcome Transient, (sounds weird but whatever) glad to have you on board.

It's coming up on the middle of fire season here in San Diego and BLM shooting closures

https://www.blm.gov/sites/blm.gov/fi...20shooting.pdf

are in effect until Dec 15th.

https://www.blm.gov/press-release/bl...ornia-desert-0

We probably won't be spending much time out there for a while but keep an eye on the BLM websites.
