You may also find some agencies restrict the caliber of guns to eliminate .223/5.56 and other rifle rounds and is a question you should direct to the Sheriff’s CCW unit before you make plans in that area.

Remember you bought your high capacity magazine from some guy at Home Depot during "freedom week" but you dont remember exactly when that was....End of story. <-- Literally this is what RSO deputies told us to say.

So yes anyone can use high capacity magazines with their ccw.

But, the statement was the extended mag release isn't authorized...that is a modification to the gun, not the mag.

Why not just, "I got these legally during the court's injunction on the ban." ? The "guy at Home Depot" nonsense just makes you look like you're making stuff up.

Our instructor didn't say that modifications to the firearms are not authorized. He stated that modifications and use of reloads can be problematic due to other situations that have arisen in other instances where the prosecution could use those modifications to paint you as a bloodthirsty killer.

Yeah, our instructor Definitely didn't mention anything about a Home Depot. It was 100% a Lowes, in Hemet.

Does anyone know if a lease agreement would work as proof of residency? I don't pay utilities and my registration isn't under my name

Just that there are considerations to be made when deciding whether or not to implement modifications to your carry gun. From a safety and legal perspective, there can be issues. There doesn't seem to be any hard policy against most mods, but they want you to think long and hard about it to make sure you're not leaving yourself vulnerable to problems in court.

I originally uploaded my lease agreement. It somehow got deleted, or removed. I uploaded a bank statement and credit card bill, both were acceptable forms of proof of residency.

Just got the call/text/email (all at the same time) to pick up.

For anyone wondering, here's my timeframe.

June 5 - Application
June 14th - Interview (They had earlier dates, but I had this day off)
June 25th - Livescan (They had earlier dates at multiple locations)
July 6th - Class & Qualifications (This was the next available date at Ben Clark Training Center)
July 11th - Approval/Pick Up

All in all, a hair over a month.

It appears that both your Utah and Virginia non-resident permits are honored in Nevada.

Keep
Checking the USA carry website and google before you travel out of state. Not being a smart ***! It does change and some state can drop reprocicity if they want. Doesn’t happen a lot but may get lucky and more states may honor your permit

Yup. Good practice to check it a few days before traveling. New ones are added and dropped pretty regularly.

A friend of mine lives in Banning and she wanted to know about who she has to apply to for a CCW permit.
^Can she apply directly to Riverside County Sheriff Department or does she have to apply to Banning Police Department first?

Also, what is an acceptable good cause for Riverside?
^I live in San Bernardino County and they accepted personal protection, but I heard that is not enough for Riverside County.

Thanks for any up-to-date info.

She can apply directly with Riverside Sheriff.

As far as the good cause goes this is pretty spot on IMHO...... Copied from an earlier post.

Quote:
You need to elaborate your good cause , think of things / activities that might put you at risk etc ( hiking in remote areas / camping ) . Certain laws / measures that have been passed in the past years , crime reports . Etc .research online and this forum . There’s plenty of useful info . The investigators will also help , they almost want to approve you . They will tell you if needs work or not . They are very helpful.
Good luck

I have my interview on Friday and I just wanted clarification on what to bring with me. I was going to bring my ID, birth certificate, two bills, three character references, and probably passport just in case. Is there anything else I’m missing?

No, don’t bring passport photos. They take photo at the station when they issue your license

Maybe they've changed now that the process is online but we had to bring two passport photos and they still took your photo for the license.

Clearly says in the application instructions.
• Two recent passport photos.

For the record, I didn't bring any passport photos nor was I asked to. For the interview all I brought was my driver's license. Everything else was already uploaded and they did not ask me to bring anything additionally. I got my permit a week ago and started the process in June.

As a general question, is a gun that my wife owned prior to our marriage now legally mine as well? And if so that gun would be able to be put on my permit? Or if not, any gun that my wife has bought since we've been married would be fine for my permit, correct?

There is a "dual registration" process that our CCW instructor mentioned. This way you have both names associated with the firearm you plan to share with your wife. I would inquire further during your CCW class.

As a general answer, “legally mine” and “owned” are separate issues from “registered”.

Their webpage FAQs address this:
Quote:
Does the firearm have to be registered to me?
It can be registered to you or your spouse and must also be registered in the state of California.

Once you apply and make the initial payment on Permitium, their web application platform, you can upload documents as instructed.

It’s likely a confusion between the old process and new one. When I applied in a January before the web application, you needed 2 passport photos. They STILL would take your photo at the interview to put on your license. The passport photo seemed to just get clipped to your application folder. Not really sure what they ever used it for.

For an amendment, they will take a new photo. Also.. they don’t ask to take your old (and not expired) Ccw card. Now I’ve got a backup in case one gets lost. 👍

this is what happened with me as well. with the transition in how the process is going i think it's highly important to follow the directions on the paperwork that is given and have an open communication with the RSO via email. things are changing for the better
