Got two incomplete emails. One is for interchangeable barrel, they want a caliber and want pictures. The other everything must be fine but they want pictures for some reason.

That may be the only way to get your submissions through.... But, the law does not require you to provide picts for the purpose of vol regs. I received the email that states they are reviewing my submissions and I'll be notified by mail... its been two weeks, haven't received anything by mail yet...? Guess I'll check my mailbox faithfully...

Like others have done I changed one to receiver only, it's a stripped lower any way right now and I don't have all the parts to reassemble. The other is an ak which is featureless and GTG, sent pictures for both. Just want to keep things moving.

This thread is confusing... half are posting about USNA and the other half Volregs.

Regarding Volregs before the 7/1 deadline, why are applications getting kicked back as incomplete because they want pics? Volregs did not require pics... so what changed?

Most Vol Reg prior 7/1 was kick back due to interchangeable barrel was selected, they state the AFS can only accept 1 caliber(even though interchangeable bbl was an option).

Yes, but my question doesn't concern interchangeable barrels and/or multi cal submissions. Some previously stated that volregs for complete akm rifles from flats are also getting kicked back incomplete because DOJ now wants pics. I mean, why would a closeup pic of the mag release have anything to do with a featureless home build volreg? Or any pics at all for that matter? They never wanted any pics before (before the deadline).

They've been kicking back receiver only volregs and insisting on caliber and barrel length. It's been truly aggravating. I'm going to resubmit my receiver only volregs and state in the comment that this is bare receiver only and has never been built into a functional firearm. Let's see where that gets me.

I should have put the caliber in the comments for the ar I resubmitted as receiver only. Probably going to be kicked back again.

Guys under caliber select 556x45. They will accept that even if your lower is marked multi

I'm still waiting for a response after I sent it back with fixes. Sent 6/9, kicked back on 9/6, couldn't edit until 10/3 because they were messed up, then now nothing on 11/3.

Slow workers.

I'm still waiting too. I submitted the correction on 9/27. A few of us made corrections on 9/27 and some got their approvals while others haven't. Very unorganized.

Good news, sent corrections on 9-28 and received my Approved letters today. No pics were provided; however they asked for them... I politely informed them there is no provision in the current Penal Code for that request... I was expecting some push back or an outright rejection letter but today is a good day...

Now on to Tuesday, don't forget to secure your 2A rights.... VOTE!!!!!

Still waiting on my Receiver-Only Vol-Reg after resubmitting on 9/27 to verify that I did, in fact, vol-reg a receiver only.

One was approved. The remaining, I had to make some corrections.
One of the correction I had to do was to take a picture of the barrel to show the caliber stamped.
Hopefully those were the last corrections I had to do.
Back to "in progress" status...

Interesting, how did you tell them that you did not have to send them pictures?

My volreg 80% ar pistol is still in progress from a 6/28 submission.

I got approval on a P80v2 that was self-serialized. I gave the full built out details and submitted as semi-auto. No photos.

At this point, most of you should just buy a registered lower. They have robbed us over and over... All we are doing is trying to be legal and stay legal. This is entrapment.

80% ar pistol. They wanted pics of maglock and engravings. Guys for caliber put 556 even if the lower is marked multi

Thanks again for the info folks. I was starting to worry there was no hope for P80 or AR built as single shot then later converted to and submitted as semi.

Has anyone who submitted an AR pistol in semi, used the Hogue Freedom Fighter mag lock? It is pretty much invisible with the action closed up. You'd have to submit pics of the action open and hope they knew what they were looking at. I know that other mag block that uses the shim would be the same way.

I have not had my AR self builts kicked back yet, either my receivers only (long gun) or my pistols. I guess I better prepare for another photo shoot...

Success! Two self built 80% rifles (featureless) and one AR pistol (fixed mag). Own serial numbers. Put 5.56mm as caliber on all even though one rifle was engraved "Multi." Pistol was listed as Semi auto with "built as SSE and later converted to Semi auto in 2012" verbage in the notes. Also of special note, the "name" engraved was NOT my full legal name, but an abbriviation aka F.M. Last instead of First Middle Last.

6-7-18 original submissions
8-24-18 got the "Please provide clear full-length pictures of both sides of the firearm, one close up of the serial number, magazine release, make and model. Upload these pictures to this transaction and resubmit for processing." email.
9-06-18 opened issue log since it would not accept changes to self built applications. Never got a response to it.
9-29-18 uploaded pictures when if finally was allowed as someone on calguns noticed.
10-25-18 got email Submission Confirmation Notice
11-5-18 got Report of Firearm Ownership Approval via snail mail, letters (3 seperate ones) dated 10-26-18.

Finally got a response just now. Sent my corrections 10/9.

AK went through. AR kicked back for pictures after they didn't ask for it before, but only to change the caliber. Here we go, one last time.

Please tell us exactly how you did this with the exact text. Did you put it in the comments on the application or open an Issue in the Issue Log?

Thanks!

Just got the email that "The California Department of Justice has received your electronic application and will begin processing your submission. You will be notified of the results via U.S. Mail."

Should get my letter within the week.

This is for a Polymer 80 lower receiver for an AR rifle. I submitted it before the July 1 deadline. It was kicked back because they wanted me to "Verify" that it was a "receiver ONLY." I replied that it is, in fact, a "receiver only," a the end of September and I got the email today.

There is no block of stainless steel because I Vol-regged it before July 1st, so it is exempt. I used a dog tag that I ordered online for the serial number and other registration info. It was embedded into the receiver by milling out a hole in the receiver and using a two-part epoxy to hold it in place and fill the hole.

They did not ask for pictures and I did not send pictures.

I haven't seen or heard anything about two 80% rifle builds.

Submitted 6/23.

Are you guys checking somewhere online?

No, just waited for e-mails. Although if they kick it back for something (or nothing, see my post upthread) you’ll need your cfars account in working order to make updates. They only got to mine that were submitted on 6/22 last Tuesday, so I’d guess you’ll hear back this week or early next.

Just to update, the two 80% rifle self reg I had that were rejected because they wanted caliber and barrel length has been approved after a second re-submission of the application and stating very specifically in the comments that these were bare receivers that have NEVER been built into functional firearms. So for all of you submitting volregs for 80%, you can add this to the knowledge base.
