I've been doing some research on new binos too, trying to stay in the same price point. I would be concerned with the field of view and stability for hand glassing over 10x. If you have a rest, then YMMV.

Although the roof prism binos are all the rage, the old porro prism seem to be as good, or better at the same price point. I.e. to get the same performance in a roof prism bino with respect to Chromatic Abberation and Clarity, you have to pay 2-3x more than a comparable porro prism. This is a result of the additional technology, coatings, etc required to make a roof prism bino.

My decision is to wait until the black friday sales start popping up at places like Optics Planet and grab a set of Steiner MM 7x50s.
