CA laws define devices that project a burning stream of combustible or flammable liquid a distance of at least 10 feet as a "flamethrowing device" [HSC 12750(a)] and requires a CA Fire permit for those devices to be legally possessed in CA [HSC 12755]. If the device projects a burning stream of combustible or flammable liquid a distance of less than 10 feet, then it is not considered a "flamethrowing device" and is not regulated under CA laws as a "flamethrowing device". Health & Safety Code 12750 For purposes of this part, the following definitions shall apply: (a) “Flamethrowing device” means any nonstationary and transportable device designed or intended to emit or propel a burning stream of combustible or flammable liquid a distance of at least 10 feet. (b) “Permitholder” means a person who holds a flamethrowing device permit issued pursuant to this part. Health & Safety Code 12755 No person shall use or possess a flamethrowing device without a valid flamethrowing device permit issued by the State Fire Marshal pursuant to this part. Health & Safety Code 12761 Any person who uses or possesses any flamethrowing device without a valid flamethrowing device permit issued pursuant to this part is guilty of a public offense and, upon conviction, shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for a term not to exceed one year, or in the state prison, or by a fine not to exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000), or by both imprisonment and fine. |
It's just considered a lighter?

I seriously contemplated using Axe body spray and a lighter, cause half a can of Lysol didn’t faze that monster. |
Anyone make an aftermarket nozzle to increase the range?

Just saw one of these being bought at the local gun store in Murrieta. Cool for sure, but $750 is steep for a novelty toy. Though, I can see myself rigging a few onto my tow truck for...traffic control.
|
The Boring Company Not-A-Flamethrower was a CA legal flame device that was sold for $500.
^They made and sold (via preorders) 20,000 units before discontinuing them. |
So much for dating circus girls who spit fire...gonna need a flamethrowing device permit...ugh.

so if it only shoots 10 ft, can it least be a spread pattern?
|
Quote:
Only if it’s less than 10° and hold 10 ounces also it must be made on the 10th of the month and cost $10 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
What I wouldn't do to have one of those.

It can’t shoot further then ten feet. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/f...er=1.&article= |
Why the 10’ law.?
They’re not restricted anywhere else. An arsenist can start a fire just as easily with a molotov or just a single match. CA has to restrict everything |

That’s like asking why ten round mags or why the roster… |
