HK MP5 22lr new release
Looks like HK is Licensing these again through umarex, (no mention of walther this time). I get asked about my A5 and SD versions all of the time and I’m glad to see they are sending these back over. I wonder how they will compare to the original release that dried up a few years ago? The magwell markings look different from the photos I have seen so far
Set to ship October 1, in both rifle and pistol versions. MSRP is around 500.00 https://hk-usa.com/hk-models/mp5-22/ https://hk-usa.com/hk-models/mp5-22-lr-pistol/ |
I might add one to the pile.

Nice.....I want one
|
That pistol looks awesome. I’ll probably get one when I move to America in the next few months.
|
Just when I think I have enough guns you pull me back in…
|
First the SL8 and now this. Maybe they are on a roll?
Now, if they could come out with a variation of the HK300 and get it out the door in 17 HMR I have a list of people I'd sell out to get one. |
Didn't umarex make the Tactical one as well back in around 2012? I remember it being a cool idea because of the 26in OAL compactness. I shrugged it off at the time because 22lr wasn't cool enough for me, now I want one.
|
Still can’t reach the selector though…
|
Will the pistol variant be sold in Kalifornia? I've been very happy with my Walther MP5. It's been ridiculously reliable.
|
I have their umarex run from several years ago, and it is a really fun shooter. Didn't care much for the cheek weld with the collapsible stock. With a bit of dremmelling I was able to get a real HK full stock to fit on it. Feels great.
|
Oh man. I can't wait!
|
Thx op. That's 500 or more dollars I will be spending toward the end of the year. Hopefully they'll have a 10 round version to make it easy on us here behind communist enemy lines.
|
Can we get the little one here in CA?

Damn…want!

The only pistol that is not required to be on the roster is a single action revolver. So just like every other rimfire auto, if it’s not on the roster, it’s a no go for CA. Be sure to vote for your gun rights. And basic freedoms.
|
People have been paying $1100-$1400 for these on Gunbroker lately, I'm glad I held out for their return...

Other pistols not required to be on the roster are dimensionally compliant break-top or bolt action single shot, C&R, and Olympic pistols. There are also dimension and capacity requirements for single action revolvers to be exempt. |
100% will buy. Now to get hands on one…
|
So it needs a mag lock even though it's a .22???? The HK 416 22lr has all the features with no mag lock so why would the mp5 pistol? Barrel length??
|

It is also a pistol with a threaded barrel - which is another AW feature. The 416-22 is a rimfire rifle so those features are ok combined with a removable mag. There is no exemption for rimfire when it comes to AW features on pistols except for some Olympic pistols. Don't try to make any sense of it. |
Thanks bruda

If I recalled correctly, those umarex brand 22 were a pain in the ***** to clean the internals, it’s overly complicated

The rifle version looks sweet, I bet fun to shoot.

Are you thinking of GSG perhaps? Who makes the easiest to clean?? |
guess they are going with the SD looks to hide the ugly thin barrel that has to stick out?
|
I hope they price the mags cheap for these. I remember paying 30.00 bucks each when they were last available on Big 5 long time ago.
Then the price doubled on a local gun show before Covid struck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

H&K licensed Umarex and in turn, Umarex got Walther to make it. The German Sport Gun version was essentially the GSG MP5 airsoft shell/body wrapped around a .22LR blowback firearm. The H&K/Umarex/Walther version was easier to clean than the GSG version. |

^unsafe handgun = no magazine disconnect mechansim, no microstamping array, no pass CA DOJ safety testing. ~assault weapon = semi-auto pistol that has restricted features (threaded barrel, second handgrip, accepts magazine outside of the pistol's grip). The rifle version is CA legal with 10 round magazines. |

I definitely want to grab one of these, probably the closest I'll get to a MP5 platform in California with a collapsible stock, no fin grip and normal mag release unless some laws drastically change.
|
Hope they bring back the fixed stock as an accessory, it’s been impossible to find them. Also it looks like they’re not making an A5 rifle variant?
|

It was never released as a fixed stock AFAIK. I should’ve bought the mp5 stock from the local gun show here years ago. Probably there’s more demand for the SD, hence the rerelease. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Curious how accurate are these MP-5 SD in 22lr?
|
Anyone know who is going to get any in So Cal? I would like to get on the list if possible.
Side note, the first automatic I ever fired was an MP5....:52::52: |
RifleGear had them on the website this morning, but sold out now.
