Precision team / gathering in Bay Area?

Im a beginner long range shooter. I have a Tikka T3. I invested in this rifle so that I can shoot with other people, but you can imagine how rare that is in the SF Bay Area.

Im looking for some people, or even a person, to shoot with who can deal with my ramp-up, and who will be stoked to help me learn all the little things along the way.

Do you guys know of anything going on, or any good people to talk to?

Thanks in advance!

It feels like the only resources for precision/long range shooting are centered around Sac. This is one resource:

https://ncpprc.com/

There are classes once in a while that run out in the Hollister Hills, but those are few and far between.

Beyond that, I'd be interested in what else you find out!

I have a 224V that I built on a whim last year and I'm working on a 6.5CM chassis rifle currently that I'd love to try in a PRS match, if there are any at all left in CA.

I learned on my own shooting up to 600 in SoCal @ Angeles Shooting range - took a bit to get consistent with trial and error, but all in all not that difficult to hit metal gongs far away.

Now I'm here in the Bay area. Am aware about SacValley since years ago, but the driving distance, hoops to membership, etc. makes it less compelling to even try to go check them out.

I'm now much more interested in finding like people who'd rather zero @ 200 locally (metcalf 4th Sunday/laguna seca) and then driving out to a BLM and spending a whole morning setting up 400-600-800-1000-1500 yards target so we can practice and check elevation/test ammo/reloads, etc. for the rest of the day.

Once that's established and there are more interests, we can set up our own match out there.

I do have a sub-MOA .308 setup that haven't been taken out beyond 200.

If anyone is interested to do this in the future, PM me.

I bought a 308 last year and have been teaching myself to reload. I've shot sub MOA on many accounts but still have beginner's woes. I'd be totally down for a trip with everyone to Sac Vally or elsewhere to get time beyond 100 yds. PM me if you ever wanna head out on a Sat or Sun.

In the same boat and would definitely be interested in getting something planned.. I’ve been shooting and zero’n at Sunnyvale Rod and Gun Club and in Livermore, which are both 100yds max.

OP hasn't signed in for over a month...looks like this fizzled out fast. My experience with meetups always left me alone and frustrated. Go out and do it on your own it's still fun, there are plenty of writeups and vid's on what to do to get good and then you can come in here and blog all that you've got done. maybe when someone else is a newbee you can let them join you.

P.S. Hopefully it's just because they have no time to post between shooting all day and reloads at night. I'm such a pessimist.

I bought a RPR in 6.5 creedmoor and have been shooting in Livermore as well. 100 yards is boring at this point. I would be down for heading out to SAC or central valley for 300-600 yard ranges. I have been working up some loads but can't really test at 100 yards. I am impressed with my 1-1.5" groups, but come on. I will sub and keep an ear open for any weekend runs.

If anyone is interested in coming out to shoot a practice day at Sac Valley, we shoot at the 1,000 yard range (Range 12) Saturday of the first full weekend of each month. You will have to sign up in PractiScore before hand through our forum: ( http://forum.ncpprc.com/index.php ) as our Saturday practices tend to fill up pretty fast. Registration opens up the week prior. Everyone is welcome. New shooters encouraged to come out. Any questions, feel free to PM me or join the NorCal forum and ask there.
