Ruger PCC Chassis Rifle

This just out.

Just needs a fin grip.

That kind of kills the chassis aftermarket.

I guess they had to have the barrel off center in the handguard to get the sight rails low enough.

I thought the best market by far for the original gun was CA because it would be legal and allow the use of lots of grandfathered (for now) Glock mags. This model is almost as expensive as 9mm AR's like the PSA. It's still has the take-down feature, but now you have to screw with wrenches to get the handguard off.

damon1272 10-09-2019 9:24 AM

The one glaring thing they didn’t address that the CROM chassis did is the mag release. So big failure for Ruger on that front. Otherwise it is pretty cool.

Scratch705 10-09-2019 9:25 AM

so ruger just released their own chassis system? or is it a new SKU where you buy it complete like that?

Since they haven't even offered the free float handguard as an accessory yet.

Buy complete...

Looks nice but defeats the featureless upside that the PC9 offers. A Magpul Handguard and stock is all I’m interested in

The Ruger has a different mount for the standard handguard vs Mlok rail. In order to change from standard plastic handguard to Ruger Mlok would require about 3 additional parts, plus the handguard itself. Its possible they make a kit in the future.

Getting closer to a 10mm or even a Backpacker stock soon ? They sure are pushing them out fast , new looks.

Need a pinned stock too. And yes they are offering a factory fixed stock option but without a threaded barrel. Luckily the MOE stock is easy to pin with the AIM lock pin kit.

Anyhow, I'd rather have the non-pistol grip stock before I'd run a grip fin.

The one I linked is the fixed stock and non-treaded barrel with a 10 round magazine. So, I'm sticking to my original statement. All you need is a fin grip.

But you posted a pic of the threaded barrel model, with a large cap mag, and a telescoping stock

Why not just build an 9mm AR? I feel like I'm missing the upside here.

Don't hold your breath. Ruger seldom sells parts.

BajaJames83 10-09-2019 1:11 PM

Oh wow it can get uglier

Just......WHY.....

k1dude 10-09-2019 3:14 PM

Not bad, but it adds another half pound to an already heavy gun.

An AR9 makes more sense.

I have the one with the Mlok handguard so I don't really care either way. Im just passing along info so others can be informed. :)

What's the cost of the AR in 9mm vs Ruger PC Carbine?

Robert1234 10-09-2019 5:03 PM

Upside: it works right out of the box. And a out half what you'll end up spending if you try to build an AR9.

Downside: mag-catch location is still FUBAR, and it's ugly as sin. Midwest Industries makes a better handguard, and just move the optic on top of the receiver and close that opening on the handguard where the rear site was.

Ruger, fix the mag catch location issue FFS.

Exactly my thoughts.

Magpul just need to release their own stock. I love their 10/22 takedown stock

PSA is $570.

But you need a fin and a thread protector.

Not at all. Ruger makes you buy a whole new gun every time you want something like a chassis or a different rail. Chassis aftermarket is going to remain healthy since they will give people the option to upgrade the PC Carbines they already have, or to buy a carbine with one setup yet switch to another if they feel like it, thereby giving them flexibility and options.

Basically, Ruger is it's own worst enemy in any attempt to kill an aftermarket and keep profits from accessories in-house.

Yep, I waited for that Ruger tube... did not appear so I put PMM on both of mine.

I'm sure they backed off seeing more $$$$$$$.

Grumpyoldretiredcop 10-09-2019 10:02 PM

Looks like Ruger is trying to make the PCC into a pseudo-AR if you ask me. I like the original version better and it's on my "buy in the next year" list.

If it looks almost as cool as an AR and requires pin and fin, I'll build an AR. Just like the Mini-14 Tactical's nitch. IMHO. Kind of just meh here because the PC Carbine was mainly exciting as a native featureless. But you had to know Ruger was doing this. It happened pretty fast though. I like the PMM because it looks like a Thompson to me hahah.

CoopsDad 10-10-2019 6:24 AM

This is an attribute? 10/22s aren't noted for their great triggers; it's the first thing I changed on every 10/22 I've ever owned. The only reason this could possibly be listed as a positive would be to let prospective buyers know that a Volquartsen trigger will snap right in.

"Light, crisp trigger pull with minimal overtravel and positive reset utilizing proven 10/22® trigger components."

Agree! 7.3 lbs and without any sighting system, is stupid heavy for 9mm.

This occ is only interesting because it’s one of the few pistol caliber carbines and the regular version is the only Cal legal one.

As soon as something lighter becomes available everyone that has these will be dumping them!

crufflers 10-10-2019 8:36 AM

Maybe if there is enough talk of building AR9's over a PC Carbine Ruger will introduce their AR9 that takes Glock mags. Of course, a 10mm too.

Yeah,,, My PCC.40 weighs exactly 6 lbs 13.6 oz with a magazine and Red Dot mounted .

This gun is another Home Run for Ruger and it will be around for a long time.

With 3 gun,USPSA and PCC Matches springing up everywhere, there are plenty of interesting uses for this gun.

Also new models are coming that will bring in plenty more buyers.
