How are the tin-can ranges used?

jackson-ri 07-18-2019 12:14 PM

You bring up aluminum cans and fill them with water from a hose available onsite. Place them out on the range and fire away.

Please check out our website for full details of limitations of targets that can be used.

Great place, great people....

I've been going for a few years with friends, and brought my 12 year old last year for his first time... (the 7 year old is looking forward to earning his safety card)

Being his first time, after he passed the safety test and got his range card, the kind folks at check in gave him a coupon to redeem for a free snack at the end of his day..

We love that the Range Masters are on top off safety... and just as personable.

My wife had a great time mixing between the pistol and the 40 yard range, and seeing how the personnel managed the range and the safety, gave her a sense of ease knowing that we bring our kids there...

Last trip, we got my son's Remington 597 sighted in at the 50yd range at the dedicated sighting stations... then he let loose on the 50yd for a couple sessions... he was doing well hitting the paper, but his clear favorite is 40 yard tin can range...
bring some soup cans, etc... his favorite is the 1 gallon Que Bueno nacho cheese cans from Costco... (and we get some nachos out of it)...

he does well with his rifle, p22 and Mossberg 20 gauge and gets to watch the cans fly around..

And yeah... its outdoor.. and its beautiful.. Looking forward to the next trip...

This place is about the only reason that I regret moving from Santa Cruz back to the country. Closer than Laguna Seca, and much more open and varied. Now that I've moved closer to Salinas, I don't get to LAGC much anymore. If you haven't been, definitely check it out.

Can I bring steel targets out to your range?

Easily my #1 outdoor choice in Norcal. Match it with Reed's for indoor shooting.

Great place, beautiful setting. They have it all: pistol, rifle, tin can range, manual trap. Pay one price, bring lots of guns, shoot all day. You gotta love that. Both my kids learned to shoot here, staff was very nice to them and gave each a coupon for free ice cream. The trap range in particular is very scenic and looks out over a wooded valley, much nicer than most trap ranges.

They have steel targets on all 25 and 100 yards. You can always bring yours if you are working on something different. I used to bring 6 inch plate to replace the BC zone on 25 yards & stand for BC to put on 50 & 75 for handgun.
Best range & coolest folks that side of the world.

Actually, we currently do not have or allow steel to be shot for the general public.
