After Action Report - 1/15/2017
Our first match of the year was a great one with the range almost filled to capacity. Our match was held on Angeles Ranges private "Fort A" range which is just across the street from Moore-N-Moore Sporting Clays. The course of fire was an 80 round XTC (Across the Course) match with shooters having two sighters at each stage. Shooters had the option to shoot a 50 round match.
The match simulates distances of 200, 300, and 600 yards through the use of reduced size targets. The stages and full distances are 200 Yards - Offhand (OH) and Rapid Sitting (RS)All shooters used Service Rifles (SR) AR-15's and M1A's with some AR's in a featureless configuration with Monster Man grips. The consensus was that while it looked a little different, it worked well but will take a bit to get comfortable using it in all positions. With the rule changes in 2016, scopes can now be used. Most shooters had optics topped uppers with maximum allowable magnification being 4.5 power. Shooters are grouped into classifications of Master, Expert, Marksman, and Sharpshooter. "Master Unclassified" shooters are those that have not yet completed enough record shots to have been classified. Winners took home a box of Nosler Custom Competition bullets. Next month's match will be February 19th. Check out the Bears website for more information. Want to get started in XTC shooting? We'll be having a clinic on February 12th. This will be an introduction to XTC (Across the Course) shooting with a 30 round match following the classroom portion. HTML Code:
