Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to the people who started this awesome forum. I made a post yesterday, but I forgot where I wrote it, lol. So, I'm going to ask the question again. What does "OLL" mean? I'm obviously new here, so I don't have the acronyms commited to memory yet. :)

Take care everyone, I look forward to talking to everyone here.

SemiAutoSam 05-08-2007 12:09 PM

OLL = Off List Lower.

And the list that this refers to is thus.

http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/dwcl/12275.htm

And

http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/infobuls/kaslist.pdf

If a receiver is not on either of those lists its legal to own and posses if its configured in compliance with SB23.

Hi Annie,
welcome to the board!

The term OLL is short for Off List Lower.
Currently certain AR-15 style rifles and their lower receivers are banned by name on a list written by the DOJ and the Legislature, these are called 'listed' weapons.
Because of a court case a few years ago the DOJ can not ban weapons just because they are similar, they have to mentioned by name on the list. You will see this court case referred to as 'Harrots'.

This has resulted in many brands and models of lower receivers for self loading carbines being able to be purchased here in California. Since these lower receivers are not on the list the term Off List Lower was coined, and then the lazy typst in all of us shortened it to OLL much the same as how 'Assault Weapon' was shortened to 'AW'

While this means that we can build these rifles there are still laws that apply and must be followed. The first step to really getting a grip on this is to read the AW/OLL FAQ at this link: http://calguns.net/a_california_arak.htm
It is not entirely up to date but the pertinent facts are still there.

Well, that is quite likely a much longer answer than was anticipated! But it is a complex issue and one that bodes well or our Second Amendment rights.

Once again welcome to Calguns!

Can'thavenuthingood 05-08-2007 8:01 PM

Welcome aboard Annie.

I used to watch you all the time as a kid. Always loved the part where you stood on your horse and shoot backwards. Do you still do that:D

If you click on your user name a drop down menu will present itself and you can see all your posts.

What do you shoot?

Hello. Just joined a bit ago, but wanted to introduce myself. Hello!

MGf 06-04-2007 9:44 PM

Hi all, just joined today. Found this forum via the Blackstar Arms website, glad I did! I'm a recent college graduate, so I often find myself keeping a tight budget. Glad to find out there's a forum specific to us PRK folks.

Kestryll 06-04-2007 11:19 PM

Littlejohn, Dayton and MGf, welcome aboard!
Glad to see you found us!
There's a lot to learn about here and a lot of good people too, you'll probably meet them soon enough. A few are brusque but they mean well. ;)

Dayton 06-06-2007 3:09 PM

Thanks Kestryll. Hope you got my paypal donation. Thanks again for supporting/running something like this for Californians.

Hello new people!

This board is a great place to learn about guns - and to share what you know with other people.

I've built three California-Legal rifles since I started visiting this board, and I've met tons of great folks.

If you are in Nor-Cal - don't forget to check out the Shoot-N-Q coming up on July 7!

:)

Long time shooter, first time Calguns poster. Being the outcast in various other forums as "the guy from California", I take interest in this camaraderie you fellas have going here. We as Californians really need to step up and take our rights back from these emotionally minded rights-grabbing leftists with no concept of what it truly means to be American and free.

C.G. 06-25-2007 9:42 AM

Welcome cbn620, no worries about getting bashed here because you live in PRK.:)

Politically minded, I am many things. You could describe me as an anarcho-syndicalist, a libertarian socialist, an agorist, a classical liberal, or simply a member of the libertarian-left. I am to many extents pro-Constitution (though willing to accept change) and FOR the abolishment of gun control. I consider myself an activist in the interest of freedom--that includes the right to bear arms. I am huge into various AK models/variations in all forms, including VEPR and SAIGA. I like AR's but the options here in California disappoint me. I am also a bit of a history buff and as such enjoy the typical repertoire of military surplus weaponry of all eras. Last but not least, high-precision shooting instruments of the bolt-action variety.

I'm a bit wordy (did you notice?), a bit on the opinionated side, and I'm sure there will be folks here who will disagree with my sometimes radical opinions. Still, we're all firearms enthusiasts here and I'm sure despite any discrepancy we can respect one and other. Hope to make some friends and only a few enemies (wink). I was referred to this site because I heard you folks know your stuff when it comes to CA-legal ARs and AKs. If anyone ever has something to drop me on that subject, feel free to PM or email at redmedicine1@gmail.com.

Welcome to the only place on the net you wont have to explain why you live in CA. Still the greatest place where land and sky meet the sea. Looking forward to polite agreement and disagreement.:D Pull up a chair.

Hello, just wanted to say hi to all and excited to be here :) . I recently got hooked by my friends to shooting and now I currently own a couple of handgun. But now I'm thinking of exploring and wanting to have a rifle particularly the AR type (ofcourse the cali legal). I'm hoping I can make friends here and find what are needed to have a cali legal AR rifle.

Thanks and have a happy 4th of July to all!!!

Hey guys and gals just wanted to say hi.

Sir Shootzalot 07-05-2007 5:57 PM

Hi everyone. I've been lurking this forum for a good year or so, but figured it was time to step into the light. I live in South OC. I'm mostly into Milsurps, but I also like some modern stuff too (just more milsurps).

Anyway. Great forum. Glad to be here!

Larker 07-09-2007 9:03 PM

Hello! I was browsing internet land, and although I learned to shoot as a kid, it wasn't until I picked up airsoft (it's better than paintball) as a hobby to that I found a deeper desire to learn more about actual firearms...

The only difference between men and boys as they say...

Anywho, I ship off to BCT and AIT to be an MP (31B) in the Army next month, and I plan to start a rifle collection and maybe start picking up on hunting afterwards.

I doubt I'll spend much of my service time in CA, but I do plan on returning to CA to start a LE career (most likely back in the Bay Area) after I'm out.

But I do want to browse around and learn what I can about CA's rifle, gun, and hunting laws.

I actually already did a bit of searching about the gorgeous dragunov, only to find some disappointing results... *sigh*

But I know I love shooting, and I love CA, so I guess I'm in the right place. :)
