It was the worst accident I have ever seen

San Juan Capistrano right in front of the mission wife and I are standing on the corner across from the Swallows when we hear the most horrific car into car crash sounds I have ever heard. No brakes no squeals just the crunching whoomp of cars colliding at high speed. We looked at each other and she said "I don't even want to know" I ran over and saw a south bound van on its right side and a pickup truck behind it, northbound was a small car on its left side with the middle roof collapsed down to the door level and another car was just shredded over at the curb by the Mission. Twenty or so people milling about, I ran to the van and another guy and I tried to see if anyone was inside but they had already gotten out and were sitting at the outdoor tables of a restaurant ten feet away, a mother and 4 year-ish daughter, the daughter was crying and someone was helping the mom who was bleeding from the forehead. No one in the truck at all and the other two cars...I didn't even want to look. Lots of southbound traffic coming down the road so a guy and I grabbed all the orange cones and A-frame reflectors that just happened to be on the mission sidewalk and set up a roadblock we stood there for a couple minutes getting people turned around until the Firetrucks and OCSD showed up. I then walked back to the crushed cars and just closed my eyes and prayed. Families are going to get calls that no family ever wants to get, mothers and fathers will be racked with grief. I heard a guy say that he saw the car go into the intersection at what he thought was 80 MPH. Funny thing is the wife and I had just left the movies and were driving out of the parking structure when we decided to stay and eat, we parked and walked a short distance to the corner and now we are back at the beginning of the story. We could have been at that intersection in our car.

Just read that there's one person with critical injuries that went to Mission and four with minor injuries treated at the scene, that is absolutely miraculous considering what I saw at the scene.
