Going to be building a 338 edge, which is a necked up 300 Remington Ultra Mag and my current press will definitely not work for this.

Can anyone recommend a press that will handle this round in say the $100 range? Up to $150 is fine too.

A little above your limit but a great press for magnum rifle loads or standard:

Lee classic cast. Look for the one that comes in the 50 BMG kit. It's good enough for 50 BMG. It's good enough for you.

Frankly, the RCBS RS class of press works just fine for this too, much less the rock chuckers etc.

I like the classic cast though. Hollow ram.

------------

If you are the kinda guy that likes to see "credentials", I loaded 338 lapua and 510 wells express (necked up 378 weatherby) on a classic cast. Not to mention resized 50-cal bullets and major diameter reductions on hardcast bullets, which is far more demanding than your application.

I use a Redding Ultramag Reloading Press for my magnum cartridges. http://www.redding-reloading.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=55%3Aultramag-reloading-press

I have always like RCBS Rock Chucker. Started reloading on a friends 30 years ago, got my own 28 years ago. Works great.

Any of the similar "O" presses should work though.

Watch Craigslist...

Rockchuckers routinely show up on CG for $100 or less.

Don't decide until you have your dies. I'd think you could use the .338 Lapua Redding Comp Neck only micrometer bushing die and micrometer seating die, you'd just need a different body die. IDK for sure since I have no experience with the .338 edge, but do .338 Lapua, which is similar, and it has small 7/8" dies by Redding where your current press must be really tiny to not fit.

This. The Ultramag was designed for the extra-long cartridges like the 338 Lapua and Remington Ultra Mag. I have a Big Boss II (and a T-7 and a Co-Ax), but if I were loading either of these cartridges, I'd get myself a Redding Ultramag press.

never heard of it...youtube'd it...bought it on grafs just now! lol.

weird that they state on grafs that its a 2 per household limit.

i like ALL the features on this thing! depriming, priming, "jaws" to handle probably 95% of the cases out there, floating & quick changing diesand monster leverage.

thanks Randall!

Forster recommends using their aluminum die lock rings. Since the die and ring float in a recess in the frame, they warn that a steel ring could grind the recess out of spec after a few thousand cycles of wobbling back and forth.

Brownell's sells a bag of twelve.

Bsumoba, first your single stage then a LnL and now a forster coax? Before you know it, you'll end up with your feet turning blue! Come to the darkside!

I was too slow in responding and was going to give you an idea on how to save money. ;)

no blue...just red ;)

i got to get all my toys...wife is baby craving...once we have one, its no more toys for me.

plus, i have committed to her no more things, or very few things after baby comes. she's not preggo yet, but its only a matter of time.

The commitment was your fault. Babies does not mean you don't cast and load and shoot anymore. Except for you now, because you have to pick between keeping your integrity, having made a commitment, or breaking it.

(my first is 3 years, second is 2 months)

the deals threads had some midway coupons.
The RCBS Summit press is on 'clearance'.
Don't know anything about it except it is bigger
than a Rock Chucker.

just mounted the forester coax and tried the hardest piece of brass for me to resize currently that i have a setup for, which is a small base die with LC brass for a semi-auto 308 and the thing resized like it was a 38 special with carbide dies.

why didn't i do this earlier?

Because you had a "budget" when you started.

You are finally starting to appreciate nice things.
So are you going to take my advice more often now?

After you move up to a Corbin Mega-Mite you will give all the rest away for free.
