I dont have a scale to figure this out. I'm looking to buy some 9mm brass BUT have I think 2 maybe 3 full 50cal ammo cans already. Not sure how much 9mm brass that is.

Anyone know how much brass a 50cal ammo can hold of 9mm, 45 and 556?

Side note, found a 2004 post from Thehighroad.com where 1000 9mm brass was $10

EDIT: 2,200 loose rounds of 9mm fit in a 50cal can so 9mm BRASS should be double I imagine.

1,300 223 brass fit.

I have 5 gallon buckets full of 5.56 brass, I can get 55 pounds in and just snap the lid on but it is bulged, 50 pounds is at about the same level as 5 gallons of paint so that is 10 pounds per gallon. There is 231 cubic inches in a gallon. Figure the cubic inches in a 50 cal can then do the math at 10 pounds per gallon for a close guess. I don't have a 50 can handy to measure. The "Brass Weights Per Thousand" sticky shows 5.56 at 14.3 lbs per K

Holy crap man! I had to take 1 semester of calculus in college and swore I'd never do that kind of math again :D

Possibly. I shoot IDPA and getting into uspsa, often times 300-400 a weekend. Don't always leave with the that much brass.
