Got a super killer deal on it. They were produced from '64 - '85.

Pretty sweet!

Other rifle is a pre-ban 1994 Colt with only 500 rounds through it that he also just got - basically it is like new.

Out of curiosity what did he pay? I have a similar SP-1 I'm thinking of selling.

Interesting barrel/fh on the carbine. Don't think it is original, but I could be wrong.

Oh, its original all right. You can see the box there. It's like new - less than 500 rounds through it. Plus, I know my friend very, very, very well... he doesn't buy non-original things. Trust me on this!!! I could sit here and tell you stories for weeks!!!

SVT-40: I have asked him via email.

All the Colt R6530 Sporter lightweights I've seen have a 16" "pencil " barrel. Plus, most had a fixed buttstock.

It's just not an original R6530 weapon, but the box appears to be.

No matter how very, very, very well you know your "friend", it appears to be VERY non-original.

It needs a fixed buttstock.

It needs a barrel that is NOT fluted.

Good for your buddy to have picked up a SP!. I too, recently traded into a early one. It has sparked a reinterest in AR15's as I had become totally bored with the whole lights, lasers, scopes, keymod rails, etc. scene.

Now I have started to build some retro AR's and am having fun tracking down the right parts. I may have RBRD (retro black rifle disease)

This is what I have so far: top to bottom, SP1, AR15/Colt 603, AR15Colt 741

I picked up the buttstock and handguards from Tony's AR Parts. It is aluminum like the originals and the handguards are the early six hole type.

Welp, I guess I was wrong then. Sorry bout dat.

SVT-40 - he paid $1,200 for the SP1. He said he's seen many "mix & match" ones in the $800 range, but held out for a nicer one that he has always wanted.
