Hey All,

I'm in the process of building up a new 3-gun rifle and was looks to put a Rainier arms 18" SPR (rifle length gas) barrel on it. They have two options Match (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2902) and UltraMatch (https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=815)

They both have all the same features: .223 Wylde, 1:8, heavy contour, etc. The only difference is the Shilen Ratchet rifling system for the UltraMatch which they claim allows for flatter trajectories. I'm skeptical and don't think it seems like it is worth the extra $120 on the price tag.

However, if some of the members here have used these kinds of barrels with favorable results I may reconsider. The most common attribute I've read on my google searches is that Ratchet rifling cleans much easier, but I haven't seen too many accounts of better accuracy or trajectories.

Thanks for the input,

Jon
