Not to hijack another thread.

If you can have only one handgun what would it be? (for whatever reason, political, financial, etc)

I am thinking everything except my Browning High Power 9mm has a price tag on them. Thanks for sharing :oji:

Ruger super red hawk. SHTF scenario so I can hunt and eat. No mags to worry about. If its self defense get whatever is prevalent so you can always get parts.

Silly as it sounds I shoot my SP2022 far more accurately than any other so I suppose I would choose it.

Desert Eagle with conversion barrels and mags from 357, 44, 50AE. :)

Reason being everybody at the range wants to shoot it. Some cool factor will get you through any political or SHTF scenario. :)

Easy choice...

Glock 20SF

I run .357SIG, .40, 9MM and 9X25 with just a barrel change. On the 9 I have to swap out the recoil spring. No big deal.

The orange base plate means I have a Wolff +10 percent mag spring installed on the pre ban 15 round mag. My way of knowing.

I can also hook the frame up to my mech tech 10MM carbine upper.

Incredible speed and very accurate.

SIG P226R 9mm Stainless - it should last a very long time, fairly cheap ammo, less worries about rust/corrosion.

I like my 686+ 6" better, but if it was only one, then the added capacity and cheaper ammo of the P226 wins.

Springfield xd 45 because it's easy to maintain, dependable, and takes 10 round or 13 round mags depending on what state you are in.

If only one, a Ghost Gun with 30 round clips that shoots them all in half a second.

Saw this on tv recently, showcased by a nice guy with cool bad guy beard that unselfishly gave his time and wants to protect the children.

I think he was related to Ponce. Or maybe John. I will have to ask Harlan next sprocket change.

My 3 most valuable possessions, in order, are:

#1 -- my 45ACP,

#2 -- my 5.56x45 carbine (which is really a 5.7), and

#3 -- my 12 gauge pump shotgun.

I also love my 300 RUM scoped deer rifle, but someday when I am too old to hunt, I will give it away. The other 3, I will die with.

Legit question. I see a "one-gun-per-household" Chinese-esque limit coming soon via the Amiano/Yee*/Feinstein/DeLeon/et al Alliance as a precursor to the all-out ban they pine for. So yeah, "which gun" is definitely something to ponder if you plan to take a fall to the socialist regime come game time. Personally, I'll keep them all or else trade them to Uncle Obama for a casket.

*Yee included as a representative of the Socialist State ideas, not that he'll be of much consequence attempting to legislate from D block.

Handgun: Even tho it's not my favorite, I'd keep my XD 45 but I'd have a hard time letting go of my S&W 686

As for a long gun: same, even tho not my favorite, it would have to be my Mossberg 500 for hunting and SD purposes

corcoraj2002
03-29-2014, 4:57 PM
Horses for courses. If a push I would choose between my 1911 and XD .40. XD .40 could be used for HD, hunting sidearm, while my Loaded 1911 is as smooth as silk and extremely accurate.

But for HD and possible CCW my XD .40 would trump. But my 1911, I have been carrying it concealed at home, to see how concealable it would be and with a custom made leather holster, it is more concealable than my .40. So I will just keep em all.

I am so glad that Ruger is NOT on the bullet button list.

I am also glad you can still get M-1 Garand bandoleers for 8 round clips at your local G/I surplus stores. These work perfectly for Ruger Mini's 10 round mag's.

I am so glad that Eddie's in Mtn View has an abundance of mag's for sale on his shelves.

Ergo, the 10 round mag law has not effectively impacted me essentially at all.

I can still take out 110 city Zombies whenever they come streaming at me during the apocalypse, before I would need to reload my mag's with more ammo.

So if I were limited to 1 gun, overall, it would thusly have to be the Ruger Mini.

But how is anyone going to know what is in anyone else's gun safe anyway???

ive bought more than one handgun for a reason, cant entertain the thought of going back to only one

When I was in college, I got my first pistol. Saved up money from my part time job flipping pizza's at the dive south of campus, and bought it.

Then a couple of years later in my new job after graduation, I got my first carbine.

Then a few years after that, I got my first deer rifle.

Then finally after watching all the L.A. riots on tv, I got my first tactical shotgun.

I have always had at least 4 guns all my life ever since then.

Not really looking for any more, other than maybe a nice small Walther PPK in 380 for CCW when I get my LTC. And that would make 5.

Can't imagine living with only one though.

I was wondering since most of my relatives on the average have just one handgun. A gun shop just got in a collection of 140 S&W handguns bought between 1970-1989 from an estate. So how cool is that? :oji:

Tough call.
I will consider my revolvers "one gun"
I will consider my 1911s "one gun"
Everything else can be counted individually.
I guess it would be a 629

John Joseph
03-30-2014, 6:03 AM
It would depend on the circumstances and available ammunition.

If no ammo was available a black powder would be my choice as I can make my own BP and cast my own bullets.

If I lived in a lawless community a snubbie would be my choice for constant companionship, or a 1911 for a house gun.

If I lived in the boonies a .44 Magnum revolver for hunting would suit me just fine.
This is all theoretical of course, as all my guns were lost in a boating accident in the Pacific.

A .357 revolver, good man stopper, good meat getter, 38s for plinking, shot for vermin, easier to keep brass to reload, simple and reliable.

Well I was going to say my S&W Model 19 4" .38/.357 as this is capable of SD and hunting. After seeing this I would like this better as this is pure "state of the art" Wonder if I will be able obtain this set up in the near future.

Would hate it if I had to choose, but if it had to be ONE I could keep, it's going to be the S&W 627-PC. I can load 38spl, 38P+ and .357 so I can get any velocity I want from the loads.

The problem of course, if lack of magazines. NOW if it were due to a Zombie Apocalypse, and I could only pick one, then it's be my S&W M&P9 with the 10 magazines I already have for it.

I fully to intend to keep all of my handguns. Should I be unable to for whatever reason, I foresee an unfortunate boating accident in my future.

In all seriousness, I'd be hard-pressed to choose between my SR22 and my RIA1911. I just know it'd be one of those two.

oghl888
03-31-2014, 1:12 PM
Just one, then it might be one of the following:

1) AR pistol in something bigger than a 223
2) AK equivalent of #1 above
3) S&W 500 with the longest barrel, maybe the 460 version of it will do too

Glock 19.

I've already done this. Consolidated to reduce number of calibers then consolidated number guns in my chosen calibers. I have 2 glock 19's and I'm considering trading off another pistol to acquire a third G19.

Ex-wives will never believe that story. So in CA they want half the value of your guns and half the value of that classic car. Of course the classic car is appraised at $49K so you are lucky if you have a hunting rifle, shotgun and handgun when you walk out of court. :oji:
