I just saw an ad for this:
Millett LRS-1 (http://www.millettsights.com/controller.php/catalog/long_range_scope)

more info (http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=3&t=234423)
Best price from a quick google search - $440 (http://www.bigrivertactical.com/catalog/item/4193480/5396194.htm) no idea about the company.

Anyone have any up close experience or looks at this thing? I love the TRS-1 I have on my Savage, but this looks even cooler. Plus it comes WITH some pretty beefy looking rings to mount it (35mm tube).

It looks like they made a bigger (6-25x56mm, 35mm tube) version of the TRS-1 (4-16x50mm, 30mm tube) with a few changes (1/4 MOA clicks instead of the 1/8 MOA clicks on the TRS-1) and fixes (markers for full turns of the elevation knob). I am intrigued, but would love to hear a report. Maybe somebody handled one at the SHOT show?

Depends on what you're trying to do. If my life depended on it or I had the cash to blow on the best, I would buy US Optics made right here in CA with whatever crazy options you can dream up ("put a mil-dot reticle on a hubble telescope you say? sure we can do that!"). If I was a purchasing agent for some gov agency and needed volume, I would buy Schmidt and Bender or Leupold. Problem is, I ain't. I'm on a budget and alot of what I buy is made in some low wage country.

Macro-economic considerations aside though, I already have a TRS-1 and love it. They may be made in Millett's factory in China (like everything these days), but the quality is great and Millett's HQ is in CA (Huntington Beach I think) and when I call a real person without a foreign accent picks up the phone and actually knows what I am talking about. They also have a great warranty. I'd just love to hear some reports on this new scope as I'm considering it for my next build down the road here. Thanks.
