Thanks

This is typical. They are probably renewed, they just haven't been updated by the DOJ with the new date. Pretty sure that S&W isn't going to let the 686 drop from their offerings in CA.

Please don't incite panic.

And even if they do drop, there are plenty of FFL's that SSE so the roster really doesn't matter

Its no secret that in Ca:

1).Nice , used (our of production) handguns are getting harder and harder to find.

(Guns like a nice Series 70 Combat Commander or Government model , Pre lock 4 inch or shorter S&W revolvers, German Walther PPK/s and many more).

2). Many NEW model are just not available OR come to Ca in a modified condition . With LCI , magazine disconnect etc.

3). Many guns that were on the roster and DID NOT have to have LCI and magazine disconnect , are falling off the roster.

I am not trying to create panic , just stating simple facts.

All they have to do is pay $200 to renew any models without significant changes. It's not complicated (or expensive). They will do so unless they have even less business sense than I give them credit for (not very much).

That's all Sig Sauer had to do but instead they let most of their pistols drop off the list and reintroduced "California" models.

Sig is right there with Ruger and they added something new at least (they didn't ignore CA completely). It's a minor miracle that some of these companies even exist still (oh wait, big contracts to LEO/.gov). You'd think with their legions of lawyers they could navigate CA law a little bit more successfully than a bunch of hobbyists, but that's not the case either.

can't rwally blame the manufacturers... well, i hate the LCIs and MDS.... would prefer them to fall of roster completely until we eventually have no available handguns

Pay $200 or lose hundreds of thousands of dollars (on more popular models). Tough choice. Also, we CA gun owners tend to have long memories when it comes to companies that don't at the very least acknowledge this market.

Do you mean the companies supporting the roster and paying renewal fees or the companies fighting the roster and helping to bring it down?

You can still allow normal people to buy guns while helping to fight the roster. The two aren't mutually exclusive. If you run a company and need to make money, you probably want to be selling as many guns as you can in CA.

Tell me how it's possible. The manufacturer can either continue renewing the guns without any possibility to improve anything in the design or to make a stance and say "f...ck it". The more guns fall off the roster, the easier it would be to defeat the California law makers' point that roster has enough guns to choose from.

I am not even saying that no new models could be added due to microstamping requirement. The only way to get the CA market back is to defeat the roster.

my point exactly. let the roster get devastatingly ridiculous, will be easier to fight it

Exactly! As painful as it might be to think there would be no "not unsafe" pistols to buy, and the gun shops that would suffer, that is our ticket out of LCI, MDS, and microstamping Hell! What happens when Glock comes out with gen 5 models? Will they still make gen 3 just for CA? Same with all other manufacturers and new versions/models. It would likely cost more to keep old models in production just for CA than to let them fall off. Worse yet, our stupidity is likely to spread to other states, or we may absorb the most asinine laws of our counterparts as we vie for top honors in the race toward firearm law obfuscation and discombobulation. "Confusticate and bebother these [lawmakers]!"

If you're counting on us defeating the roster by having no guns on the roster then I hope you already own all the handguns you ever want to own. Cutting off the nose to spite the face so to speak...

You said it Cyc...

The "I can't wait until all handguns are off roster..'cause then we will really be able to show 'em" pipe-dreams is one of the dumbest things I have seen on Calguns for a long time.

No guns on roster = effective ban by default. Didn't work for Chicago. I don't think it will fly here. That was just one city. This would be an entire state. Certainly wouldn't happen overnight and would create a hardship for a lot of folks but what's the alternative? just my 2 cents.

Edit: Oh, I don't own all the handguns I want since they are not on the roster. We aren't getting any new models until science fiction becomes reality and we get microstamping pistols. But who wants to own those anyway?

Do you have a better strategy? Like, voting out the anti-gun Dems looks more feasible?

I have a "wait & see" with anything to do with the CA roster. I rather not have any models drop from the roster but, then again, what could one do if the manufacture doesn't renew a specific model?

In the end, we have to suffer thru additional obstacles because of the state we live in... California...

Only if you have inventory unsold in other States; if you're running your factory at capacity and cannot meet full demand in the other 49 States, suddenly screwing around with CA and the rules and the roster doesn't look like such a good idea...

And you can only really continue to sell "old" models; make any substantive change and you'll need to add a lot of CA-only stuff (like loaded indicators, reduced capacity magazines, and now microstamping) to sell your upgraded firearm. Makes it hard to justify bringing newer models out to CA - and that is always a concern when you're looking at production capacity. Do you want to keep turning out old models, or the newest stuff that garners more covers on magazines, websites, and trade show exposure?
