Just wondering if there is a better deal for bulk ammo in 7.62x39 than the above?

My preference is military classic or brown bear from AIM: http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/copy_of_7_62x39.html

www.ammoman.com

I think they had it on special last week for $179 with 2k+ purchased.

Shows $199/1k SHIPPED for some Wolfs's stuff, and $189 for Golden Tiger.

I buy surplus items from sportsmansguide but I won't buy ammo from them again, their s&h is very high to so cal.

Shipping and handling is high to So Cal? Please explain... I used to order 3K wolf .223 ship to so cal (OC area), shipping was $20 for all 3K. After applying shipping coupon ($10), the actual shipping cost is only $10. I bought ammo from AIM and JG Sales and they charge WAY more on shipping compare to sportsman's guide.

Wow, that's funny I had the opposite experience with SG and J&G. Last year I placed a large order of ammo as well as parts from J&G and shipping was $12-$15. SG tried to charge me $45 because of the weight.

You have to make sure the item is labeled "bulky item" under the order button. If it is NOT, then max shipping is $19.99 with a $2 adult sig. I bought over 5k rds a few months ago and paid no more than $13 after the $10 coupon. For some caliber ammo, the 1k case was bulky, but the $1 more for (2) 500rd cases skipped that problem.:D

Yup, pretty much what Roccobro said. Adding one more thing: If you order TOO MUCH from SG, they will call you and charge you shipping based on the actual shipment weight. If you don't agree, they will cancel your order and void your membership (if you are a member). If you order 3-5K rounds each time it would be fine; but if you see a good deal and ordered say... 20K rounds you will sure be getting that call from SG customer service. Break it down to few smaller orders you would be fine. This has happened before, ask people in ammo forum at AR15.com, they will give you tons of stories.

Just FYI, I got an update from Ammoman mailer tonight on the 7.62x39 special:
We will be ending the quantity (5 case) discount on the 7.62x39 soon.

This was an importer sponsored sale and for a limited number of cases.

Our individual case price on the 7.62x39 will not be going up, for at
least the next few weeks.
