From what I hear, C Products makes the most reliable x39 AR magazines. In fact, they make a 30 round magazine for which there is a magazine block to make 10-30's of them.

I have an x39 AR and like it a lot. I did initially have some issues due to a sharp firing pin hole, which was stamping brass disks out of the Wolf ammo primers. It caused an issue with tiny brass disks accumulating in the firing pin channel - which caused an intermittent issue with light primer strikes. The answer is simple... slightly relieve or "bevel" the edge of the FP hole. Since doing this, I have not had a single problem with my x39 AR. The bolt in question was an MGI Reliability Bolt which, aside from the sharp FPH issue, has worked extremely well.

Odds are you will not have a problem, but if you do, some things to look into are x39-specific firing pins and xp hammer springs.

And do not forget... if you have a non-chrome-lined or non-stainless barrel, if you shoot corrosive surplus x39 ammo, you will need to clean the rifle thoroughly using the corrosive ammo cleaning process in order to avoid your barrel rusting. Regular rifle cleaning using products such as CLP will not do for corrosive ammo.

Some of the x39 can be dirty stuff. It's probably not a bad idea to thoroughly degrease the chamber and the gas tube (interior, use a gas tube pipe cleaner) and then douse them liberally with either Froglube or Fireclean. (of course, remove any excess before using the gun) The idea being to remove any caked on carbon and help prevent future build up.

You bought a 7.62 AR15 pistol upper without magazines? Talk about impulse buys :D:68:

ASC would be the best magazines for that.

ASC would be the best magazines for that.

I second that. Calgunner Engi has an awesome 7.62x39 AR setup. I've put about 100 rounds through my favorite rifle with ASC magazines with no failures. You want to order directly from their website. They have the best prices and availability.

Cproducts- 5stars
ASC- crap. Rounds ride too low in back. Bolt just scrapes over the round without stripping it. Tried to bend feed lips but can't get the thing to level out. The cproducts mag works flawlessly. I think it's the followers, asc follower had to be trimmed to spec.
