I've bought a few thousand 180 grain RFN, but does anyone know if their JHP expand well? Looking at reviews online, it doesn't seem so. Any experience with Xtreme JHP expansion on these forums?

From this page: X-Treme Bullet Load Data (http://www.xtremebullets.com/category-s/1952.htm)

- All Hollow Points are Heavy Plate Concave Base but are not designed to be used as a defense round.

IMHO, if you are going to use anything for a defensive round, if you are going to stake you life on it, I'd use Speer Gold Dot or Hornady Critical Defense or the like. Yes - more expensive, but in my opinion, worth it. I wouldn't gamble on anything but the best if my life is on the line.

Just my opinion.

It is definitely not a boat tail-- but I wanted to send you a pic as I am still new to this stuff and may not accurately describe it.

I will see if I can take a pic and post it up tomorrow-- I think the box of bullets is under my desk at work...

Haven't shot them yet, so I can't speak to accuracy or working loads.

Yeah, that's what I was worried about. I've already got some Gold Dot's and HST's, but my wife doesn't like them much. Was hoping to find a good projectile, and work my way from there. I'll look for some Hornady 155 gr HP XTP.

Try a 180 grain bullet... Assuming your loading for 40? 155's will be very snappy especially if your loading a high velocity defense round.

I ordered a thousand and was wondering the same thing. Found a few pics on the net and if those are the same as the ones I ordered, it looks like they are both cannelured and Boat tailed.

Here is a post in a different forum with a pic:

.223 ordered in June. Not sure if that counts as a "boat tail", but they do appear to have a slight taper on the back.

Check back frequently, I have seen them go in and out of stock multiple times within a week.

I kinda think they may release small amounts of stock at various times...
