My mom was a pre-teen during WWII in Germany. My friends Armenian parents met in a labor camp, immigrated to the US, and were married till his Dad finally passed. I have spoken to them at length about the atrocities they witnessed and the depths that mankind can stoop to.

I just don't like having any Gov't knowing what firearms I have. I also have NO INTEREST in breaking any laws and ending up screwed.

I've been considering getting a couple 80%'ers, completing them, then using all the hardware from an existing M&P15, to complete the build around one.

I'll then be left with a stripped lower. I could document its destruction or sell it to get it off my list of owned firearms, correct ?

Does this make any damn sense to you guys ? Or do I need to stop reading the 2a forum and remove the tin foil hat.

Thanks

Aside from the FFL, there is no list that is kept for long gun owners at this time. With the upcoming bills that may pass, you may have to register your long guns that you purchase after the new years.

There is a paper trail though that your FFL keeps that if your firearm is under investigation, the Feds can visit the store and request to see the documentation of the sale to you.

I believe if you sell the firearm, the original FFL you bought it from should still have your receipt and information as it is their responsibility to record keep this stuff.

Without probable cause though, no organization will random pull up and request information from the FFL (I believe this is illegal for them to do, but unsure).

This is actually a large reason for the rise of 80% lowers. When purchasing a 80% lower, you can effectively remove all paper trails of ever purchasing it.

I see no reason why bad things can't happen anywhere, including here. As time goes by and people forget history more or less repeats itself.

BTW, you're already on some lists, we all are. This is America today, we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Yeah that's the problem with any kind of authoritative investigation. They will assume the civilians as stupid and make up their own reasons to violate our privacy and create their own probable cause.

History DOES repeat itself, it takes people thinking the whole time that they are different until they've created a monster, then it's too late.

OP I am with you in anti registration and am with you with my Russian Jewish ancestors. Anti registration anti serialization and anti confiscation.
It IS how socialism once took place. Disarm the citizens then quiet those who have a voice.

Don't get me started in that. Those fuqers have a smart ash response wen asked about non online play, more speficically when questioned about troops who play Xbox, they said they have something for that, the Xbox 360. Think I'm gonna pass on the not so cleverly disguised big brother toy lol. It's bs you have to have Internet %100 of the time for it :/ lol

You're on the list anyway. If you've ever used a credit or debit card to buy anything gun related, they know about it. They know about all financial transactions.

Which is why I've used cash in every fun purchase. I kept receipt as proof of ownership. But I thought about that before I started ;). Oh crap now it's on the internets and everyone knows!!!! Lol jk

Obviously you have a computer and likely it has a camera, so you are being watched. 1984 has been with us for a long time. You are on a list, every one of us is and you might as well get used to it. The recent IRS and NSA security breaches and whistle blowers haven't been telling us things we didn't already know. Trust me if stuff goes down, they will go through your past and make you out to be an evil doer of some kind, Christian Terrorist, Radical right winger etc. Anything to make a firearm owner and the rest of us seem crazy and lunatic. Nothing you can do will remove you from that list. Obviously you have bought a firearm legally and filled out a DROS at some point. So that means you were run through the system and those that need to know do. I don't care what they say about what information is kept and where, have they given you reason to trust them completely? Trust is a two way street and after they do not follow through with what they say, how can you believe the whole lot of their doublespeak? I say look at their fruit and you can determine how good the tree is.

Although I'm being sarcastic I don't want to come off as ignorant, crass or uninformed.
Being born in 1984, and have always had an interest in dystopian stories or anything involving 'big brother'. I know if they wanted to it's truely impossible for people like us who are aware to escape it. Especially since we're already kind of living in it. I just thought the drones were a richardslap in the face (dicslap) to the public. I know I'm on a list somewhere for something. Like my detention in the 5th grade (sarcasm). But seriously it's sucks when you think about how much privacy we don't have or are told we don't need. For our own safty of coarse :/
Again I am aware of lists and bs. But to bring this thread back on topic, it's more for the fear of history repeating itself with cataloging, registration, confiscation, neutering the public then enslaving them, killing off those that don't comply and erasing emotions. I mean the holocaust did happen. This is where that starts

If you own a legally purchased a handgun your name is registered as a gun owner.

Confiscation doesn't happen in one big act. That would cause a rebellion. it happens systematically one here today, another tomorrow, etc. as is currently going on in Canada.

I have a difficulty accepting registration of long guns but it's not like I'm off their radar as I own handguns which all are registered. I'll probably register two or three and sell the rest. I'm currently shopping for rifles that don't have a derachable mag just to avoid possible registration. But after dec 31 I won't buy another long gun.

Well in that aspect, when you currently DROS a long gun (ie rifle or shotgun), the DROS just says Long Gun. It doesn't say the type of the gun or the make.

Only the FFL has the information on what type of long gun you purchased within the receipt transaction.

California is now trying to impose the law that makes FFLs specify the type of firearm being registered to the buyer.

You posted on Calguns. You're already on the list.

Our government no longer cares about what you actually do, or what you have done. They are now entitled to persecute based on implied intent. As far as they're concerned, you're already a criminal terrorist, and if and when they choose to "come for your guns", it won't matter if you actually own any or not.

More scary then that, the next big brother move is the children in the public education system.

Well on a bright note, breaking news today reveals that Microsoft is going back on their word now not having the Xbox permanently connected to the net.

Given that we now know that the gov is tracking everything that everyone posts on the internet. Does it really matter if your long guns are registered or not at the end of the day? If they come after them all they have to do is track your calguns account?
