"Now I want my own AR"

I've been on the verge of divorce from my excessive spending on firearms over the past year. Somehow talked my wife in joining me at the range today to fire my latest Sig 516 build. She hogged it through 200 rounds.

She left the range and went straight to the pro shop and ordered her own.

I'm a lucky man....

LOL it's usually all it takes... to take them to the range and alleviate their fears..

1) Many people have no idea what a shooting range is like, they think it's the wild west. They don't realize there are line officers watching for dangerous situations. That people follow some very serious rules of firearms safety.
2) They learn that guns don't just pick themselves up and shoot randomly.
3) They learn that guns don't explode randomly.
4) They have no friggin clue how fun it is until they try it and actually hit something
5) Wives just want to feel included in your life.

And she was hitting 3 in groups at 100 yards with the Eotech and realized how much fun and empowering it is

Maybe you could duracote some parts silver and add some glitter to the mix before you spray? Might be worth a shot.

Do what I did for my wife... well rather, she chose rifle and colors and I bought it. :P

It's a trick, she'll take 50% of your ammo for life in the divorce!

At typical range pro-shop prices, I hope you made her pay for it.

She paid for it alright. With my credit card. Price for another 516 was good. $1459.

Yeah, that's not happening with my wife.

My daughter on the other hand. Well, maybe in a few years, she's only 6.

I had a similar situation a couple years ago. On the plus side, I now have 2 more AR's and my 1911's seem to be multiplying in the safe.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with my wife while I was building my second AR.

Wife: "is that one for me?"
Me: "you can shoot it any time you like"
Wife: "but is it mine?"
Me: "Er, no, I hadn't thought of it that way"
Wife: :(

Needless to say I am slowly putting one together now to her specifications. Fortunately for me what she wants is a light KISS carbine! The only thing she enjoys shooting more than ARs is my Marlin 795...too bad for me she didn't ask for one of those of her own instead!

Whenever my wife asks that question I say "Yes, it's yours". It usually leads to her saying, "Well I guess since that one is mine, you should get one for yourself too." ;)

I was thinking about getting my wife the pink camo M&P 15/22

Fritz265

My wife would never accept a 22 rifle. Ever. Even my 12 year old son won't shoot his Sig 522 anymore. It's the kindergarten gun.

MY GIRLFRIEND WAS THE EXACT SAME WAY!

She said my "firearms addiction" is going to be the end of us.

I took her out for a shoot....

She wants "explicitly" on quote, "pink, black, and grey digtal camo AR15" off quote..

She HATES hello kitty when i just merely mentioned it.

The problem is that it's tough enough to find enough ammo for MY habit, now I have to find enough for her too. At least she won't complain anymore when that heavy UPS box arrives each week.

Perfect opportunity to get your wife on board with buying a Dillon 1050 (http://www.dillonprecision.com/content/p/9/pid/23877/catid/1/Super_1050)!

Not sure I want to get into the reloading biz. I don't have the time that it takes to shop around for the components, let alone the process of reloading itself.

Cool story bro. I took my wife to the range once and I had the misfortune of bringing her on the same day someone was shooting a 338LM with a brake on it. Scared the **** out her and she went back to the car.

She let me fire first and because of the noise, resisted at first. I made her sit down and fire. It was all over after that..... Had her shoot at metal targets so she could hear the result. 200 rounds later, she wanted her own rifle.

I think I'll give her my Eotech so I can upgrade :oji:

Congrats! Same thing happened with my lady! When I met her, she was on the fence regarding gun ownership. I took her to the range ONE time with her father and everything changed. It's amazing what a little experience and knowledge will do for opinion.

She doesn't oppose guns since her father was a career fed agent but she opposed my spending (she called it "excessive", I disagreed) but now she has the bug.

The good part is that many of her friends are extremely anti-2A and she's like Honeybadger: She just doesn't give a sh** what they think.

She is why my hobby is so expensive. She sees mine and wants one of her own.
Her arsenal
S&W 469, original owner almost 20 years.
Ruger 10-22 target with Volquartsen barrel.
Remington Model Six in .243.
Marling 336, 30-30
S&W MP15 with a pink ambi safety and red dot. This became hers after she shot it. "so, can I have this one?"
It's no stress here owning guns unless she decides she wants one too.
