So i'm in IL and had some folks ask to buy my Mega Maten 308 receiver set.

I started reading thru the info that Calguns put together but I am still not 100%

As long as the IL FFL is registered with CA's system to transfer to an CA FFL that does the conversion, am I ok to sell it?

Thank you guys in advance, I will pay it forward with the knowledge :)

The only conversion that needs to be done is if the rifle is a semi-auto centerfire with a detachable magazine.

if its just a receiver then its not a semiauto centerfire yet and has neither fixed nor detachable magazine...its in limbo until assembled. Only assembled non-listed rifles can be categorized as an AW by features. there is no constructive possession laws.

as long as the CA FFL is ok with accepting and transferring the set its ok.

The buyer is responsible for the legal assembly of the rifle.

Thanks for taking the time to figure it out, instead of just saying "Oh, California? No, I'll sell to someone else." It's always appreciated when we get someone who's willing to work with us.

Yup, it was a dealer that said something along the same lines of what you said and it really hit home with me. I feel sorry that the words of a few with power take away from the mass below it.
