Is the magazine in the gun? It wont dry fire without the mag in there.

yes, the magazine is in the Gun.

Have you already flipped the lever onthe back of the grip? That takes the pressure off the hammer so it wont dry fire. You can sometimes get the hammer to go forward by holding the trigger back and the gun upside down.

I am no expert but I have taken mine apart several times and got it stuck a few times myself. I'm located in the north San Bernardino area and would be happy to take a look at it for you if you are ever in the area.

...during the disassembly...

The pistol might not be cocked, therefore cannot be dry-fired. Check that the magazine is "in", and the safety "off".

"Dry-fire" should be step #2, step #1 being to remove all ammo from the pistol.

The little latch on the grip can be a PITA.

Helps to point her in the air when snapping it in.

Tons of videos on YouTube about this... Look them up. I'd help but not around my ruger takedown manuals and stuff so I can't remember off the top of my head...
