I guess I should also ask a few simple questions instead of making a new thread ......

Like I said in my original post Im in the early stages of purchasing my first gun. I would like to buy a 12g shotgun for home defense and a Smith n Wesson m&p 15/22 for some fun shooting at the range.

1. Ive already been to Rifle Gear, Turners and Ammo Bros to check out what is out there right now. Im in the north OC area and wondering what other shops I should visit.

2. With the holiday season approaching, are there usually lots of deals for new guns during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Im just wondering if I should wait another month or two to make large purchases.

3. I know there are no limits to the number of rifles I can purchase at one time but are there any draw back to buying a shotgun and rifle at the same time or with in the same month. Does the government document how many guns are purchased at one time.

thanks again
-Kia

welcome to Calguns. I'm not sure I can help with your questions but I'll try number 1- I don't know your area but I would shop around at different stores and get different opinions, find the place you like the best, and shop there.2- yes I've heard about holiday deals as well but usually you're only saving between 20-60 dollars in my opinion I get at least something now. start having fun today.3- I don't believe getting 2 long guns at the same time cause any problems but I could be wrong. lastly I really like the Mossberga for first time shotgun users because of the easy to use safety being right where your eye is. I never had any problems with the 500 series. they are cheap and on sale a lot.

Welcome aboard!

Don't be surprised if you don't find too many answers in this post. Most folks don't look into the "new here" area for Qs to A. Try reading and asking in the general gun or gun-specific (such as shotgun or center-fire-rifle or handgun, etc) subforums.

There is already a LOT of info so a search (use the google search, you'll be happier!).
