View Full Version : My first handgun, Sig Pro.

I just purchased my first handgun after a few weeks of reading through the forum, reading reviews, and watching video reviews.

A Sig Sauer SP2022 or Sig Pro with contrast sights.

I bought it for $475 plus tax, handguns safety certificate, and dros. I haven't tried it out yet, but i can't wait until I do.

I'll be using it for home defense, practice at the range, and a firearms class.

Thanks for looking, Emmanuel.

Outstanding! Have fun with it, and welcome to the club. Also, say goodbye to your paycheck because handguns are a lot like potato chips: you can't have just one.

Yeah, a poly gun that's NOT a glock!!!! :D
Let's us know how you like it, I'm seriously looking at that in .40 or the new XDS for my poly gun.

Thanks! I'm sure i'll have lots of fun with it, I'm anxious to get it out to the range. I know what you mean, I'm already looking into buying a 1911 :D

Haha! I'll be sure to update my thread once I have some range time with it, I was leaning towards getting the .40 but this is the 9mm. I figured I'm just going to start to learn how to shoot a handgun so it will be cheaper.

Oh nice!! You should put a few more pics up for those pic whores put there. Haha
Yeah I've only talked to people who have the 9. My shop has a .40 for $460 but had an impulse/need to buy the CZ 75b SA in .40 instead. So gotta save for awhile for a poly gun.

You asked an you shall receive haha, just give me a little time. That seems like a good deal, but CZ's are not a bad choice. You have a difficult decision to make, let us know what you decide!

Congrats... Have fun and be safe.

Thank you, for sure.

Congrats! I just got one with night sights, unfortunately mine didn't come in a nifty case (cardboard box).

I also put the larger grip on there. Fits nicely but I don't like how there is a tiny bit of play toward the bottom of the grip. Do you have this issue?

That's my first (and only so far) gun as well! Fits like a glove, looks absolutely badass.

Good choice, my friend!

I would have preferred having the night sights over the case, but I will eventually upgrade to them. I'm not sure how I feel about the contrast sights it came with.

I agree, it feels really nice. The grip itself doesn't have any play, but the magazine does have some small play where it sticks out from the bottom.

For the price and quality, it can't be beat! Yes it does, thanks :D.

the contrast sights suck ( i got nite sights ) and the larger grip on my Pro does have play ( squeeze it really hard and you feel the movement )

I have one in 9mm, love it!

Took a little while to get used to the grip and trigger since I am really a 1911 guy. I for some reason with my thumbs forward kept holding the slide release either up, or down. I also shot a little low for the first few hundred rounds, but ater just a hair under a thousand rounds, I produce targets like this... 2 mags, semi rapid fire (less than one shot per second) at 15yards... Not as good as a 1911, but a good 1911 trigger will hide a myriad of sins :D

Congrats on the SIG Pro, they sure are awesome guns for the price. It has the best trigger of the 4 SIGs I own (226, 239, P6, 2022).

I fired it for the first time today, it felt amazing! A little more kick than I thought :D. I do need lots of practice. I went through about 150 round today and was slowly starting to get the hang of it. Any beginner tips are welcome.

I have one and the more I shoot it the more I like it!
It's good to hear that, now I'm looking forward to shooting it even more.

The 226 was one of my first choices, but for the price, I couldn't pass up the Sig Pro. It's good to know it holds it's own compared to the higher end models!

That's a good looking Sig! Have fun with it.

Thanks, I know I will :D

Congrats....i have one myself... great gun for the price... you'll not regret it.....

Nice, I'm sure I won't, I've heard nothing but great things so far.

Nice! I know what you mean by holding the slide release. I was trying to find the most comfortable way of shooting it and resting my thumb on the slide release felt good. The slide didn't hold open once because of that.

the contrast sights suck ( i got nite sights ) and the larger grip on my Pro does have play ( squeeze it really hard and you feel the movement )

Yeah, I shot it for the first time today I really felt that play today and the contrast sights weren't the easiest to get accustomed to. I need to invest in the night sights. Where did you purchase the night sights?

Loved mine so much I had to buy another after I sold my first, now it's in jail .. Haha

Haha! That's sweet, once you go Sig you never go back? haha.

Love my SP2022 in 9mm as well, good choice.

Thanks, I'm loving it so far.
