Do we need to have a BB if all "evil" features and the pistol grip were replaced with an Exile HH grip? I always wanted to purchase an AR pistol but not if being hindered by the BB. Any insight would be great.

Handgun rules are different than rifles, I don't see how a hammerhead grip would help:

12276.1 (a) Notwithstanding PC section 12276, assault weapon shall
also mean the following: Pistols
(4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a
detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward
handgrip, or silencer.
(B) A second handgrip.
(C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the
barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or
her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
(D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location
outside of the pistol grip.

There is no getting around the BB on a pistol build.

A DOJ assault weapons ID expert is on record (under oath at trial) testifying that the Hammerhead is not a pistol grip.

But I sure would not want to be the test case...

Just throwing this out there, because I really don't know much at all about them... what about a featureless "AR15 pistol-like" AOW?

Nope, not at the moment. Would be nice, though.

It wouldn't help.

If there was no pistol grip and there was a magazine well then the magazine well could not possibly be inside the pistol grip.

A magazine well outside the pistol grip is an evil feature on a pistol.
