View Full Version : New Saiga 100 series questions- is anything different when converting?

Yesterday, I put a new 7.62x39 Saiga 109 series/2nd gen. In jail. I didn't get a great chance to look at it, but what's the deal with the huge thing at the end of the muzzle? How do I, or can I even remove and thread this to attach a more traditional muzzle device? in regards to running AK mags, which bullet guide do I need, and is there anything I'd need to do to the mags? This is probably the first thing I'll do, as the trigger group I would like to use for the conversion is backordered, and I'd like to run the mags I bought back in 97'. Any advice or comments would help a bunch.

probably a russian/bulgarian 24mm barrel nut. Not sure if they are welded or tacked on, but if you can remove it, there are some US made 24mm 7.62 brakes that should work

24 mm would make sense. The pics of it that I have seen with the threads exposed make it look like something you'd screw a garden hose to.

Glad to see someone makes a comp for it. This will definitely make a cosmetic difference. Guess I'll have to wait the next 8 days till it's out of jail to find out what I actually have. Is the trunnion round or flat? I'd like to order a bullet guide asap.
