Is anyone familiar with a 7.92 SS round? It is supposedly stainless and might be Yugo. It wouldn't chamber in my 8MM Mauser. The bolt wouldn't close.

The Germans used the markings "s.S." to designate their WWII style heavy ball 198 grain 7.92x57 ammo as opposed to "S." for their WWI style 154 grain ammo. The s.S. stands for "schweres Spitzgeschoss" or "heavy pointed" bullet and not for "stainless steel". The bullet jackets are usually made of copper washed steel though.

What is the headstamp on your ammo and what do the boxes look like? There's no reason German heavy ball shouldn't chamber in your 8mm Mauser rifle unless there is something wrong with either the rifle or that particular batch of ammo. Could your ammo be S patronen M30 8x56R for the Steyr M95 rifle?
