ok, i have 2 extra AR uppers and i'm thinking of keeping one as a dedicated scoped upper. max range 300-500 yds.
1st one is a rra 16" heavy 1/9 mid-length upper and the 2nd is a stag arms 20" mil-spec profile 1/9 upper.

will the 20" have better accuracy or is it a was with the 16" heavy barrel?
whats the best weight bullet for a 1/9 barrel?

I have just about the same set up.I am trying to decide which to keep and which to dump. 55 grn works great in 1/9 but 62 is not too bad either.

what about 1/7? i have 16" 1/7 upper with a red dot but don't want to have a bunch of different ammo per upper.
whats a good grain to shoot out of both 1/7 and 1/9?

thanks

the length of a barrel has little o do with accuracy of the gun. this is why you see people with 7.5 inch ar pistols shooting 200 yrds.

if you really want accuracy i would suggest you get 1) a heavy barrel profile in whatever length you choose and 2) reloading equipment.

68 or 69gn SMK will be a good accurate pill for the 1:9 twist.

Use the 20" for long range. A possible 200 fps advantage.
