View Full Version : My UPS guy is not happy with me...

I didn't realize the shipping weight on 500 shotgun shells is 56 lbs. ;-)

I'm growing to like SGammo.com. These centurian slugs may not be the best in the world, but it's hard to argue with the cost...

I love SGammo.com ordered from them before and it was great.

let us know how they shoot. I have been debating on whether to get 50, see how they work and then maybe order the 250. Your opinion though could bump it immediately to 250 (fingers crossed :D)

Very nice, have heard their shipping is fairly inexpensive for the amount shipped.

I still remember when I ordered 1,500 rounds of .30 Carbine ammo all packed into one box (weighed like 58 lbs), the UPS dude sure huffed that thing up to the steps of my house, that's for sure. He took the task like a champ, just asked for my digital signature to release the package to me. I felt sorry for inadvertly contributing to his workload though.

Just wondering if there is something about them that makes them inferior?

From what I've read, they knuckleball a bit after 50 yards, and glancing at a couple they do not all appear to be perfectly centered within the cartridge (along the lengthwise axis).

However, if I'm shooting someone from more then 150 feet away, it'll be kind of hard to claim self defense, so as an emergency/HD/practice-for-HD round, they should be just fine.

Within that range, I have read nothing bad about them, and even out to 100 yards the accuracy is not supposed to be bad.

nasty looking round, too. Rifled slug, so the face looks like a gear about to hit you side-ways.

It may be a couple/few weeks before I can go shooting, though, so I may not be forthcoming with a review anytime soon.

if I were to go, say, hunting, I'd get something more like the Federal LE line, but at this point in my shotgun career I may as well practice with the cheap stuff.

My UPS driver wasn't happy with me either quite a few years ago. 2700 rounds of SA .223 ammo in a big plastic case. I should have ordered a dozen of them. :p

Ha Ha! SG Ammo made a man out of my UPS guy!
Seems the 69 lb. package from AIM surplus with 2 bonus steel handles was his worst day.

I need to give my UPS guy a workout all so.

Centurion slugs are just fine. For the price, they can't be beat and they go bang every time so far. I wouldn't use them for HD. I would use higher grade ammo for that but for IPSC they are great. They cycle my Benelli M1 just fine, put holes downrange and not in the wallet.

My USPS lady used to hate it when I ordered 10+ cases of Montana Gold Bullets all at once. At 68 pounds/flat rate box she would wait until she saw me to have me unload them when it became a regular occurrance :(

***** stuff...my drivers have to carry boxes up to 70lbs, usually by the dozen per stop. ;)

I shot about 35 of those last week.
They work fine as practice round, no misfire so far.
I am going to order the buckshot from them too.

for HD I use Federal low recoil and flite-control.

ROFL I ordered 1000 rounds of the slugs from SGammo...

The box it came in looked like it was not gonna survive... my guess is the UPS guys were pissed. HAHA

I've come to realize, out of a Rem 870.. after about 10 rounds, I'm done. I guess that means I have a lifetime supply.

The CMP clipped .30-06 ammo was running about 15 pounds per can, but there was a time if you ordered at least two you might get a pair of cans in a wooden crate (35 pounds total?). Nothing like getting a few of those to get some weird looks.

You think that's bad? I had mine deliver over 74 pounds of ammo in one box. They usually drop packages by the door but this time they left it by the mailbox but I'm not really worried about thefts or anything.

Apparently a couple spam cans of 7.62x39 AK food weighs 60lbs. This time, he's not going to be able to just toss the box over the gate...:D
