Does it really make a diffrence what company's product I use. I see lots of ATI stuff for cheep, but is it worth it to get a slightly better quality buffer tube package? I read some bad reviews on amazon on the ATI package.

If so what would you get and where? Its for a DD(lower) an RRA(coyote upper) gun I'm building and all other parts used are quality.

Thanks!

I would not cheap out on a part that's cheap to begin with.

Get a good quality part and it will last the lifetime of the rifle.

I have cheaped out on personal guns and have misc spare parts now that have crapped out.

a cheap buffer tube is made with cheap materials, made with cheap tooling, using cheap processes and gives a cheap product that they then jack up the price 500% and charge too much. A cheap tube cost about 1 penny to make and they charge $15 -$30 for it.

on to the quality tube.

Its made from a quality metal (7075 or 6061...not melted pots), with a quality coating (Type II or III Anodizing...not paint) using a quality process, (Casting forged... not injected molded called extruded) Using quality tooling, (Rolled threads, not cut threading). A quality tube cost about $10.00 to make and they charge about $45 - $50 for it...well within a proper mark up %.

they are all around the same price, I wouldn't care about a few bucks. The most important thing is identifying who what where and how its made.

Stag, ArmaLite, DD, LMT, PSA, JP... Stay with known good vendors too. Buying from "theGodofBoobie541" on E-bay isn't a wise choice.

This is another part that most people do not realize that very few people make and most everyone outsources.

Take DD for example, we use the same buffer tube but neither of us make them.

There are VERY few places that make these kinds of things. Just like there are very few places that make the blanks that companies cut their own uppers and lowers from. Or make the roll pins. Or the trigger guards. Or a whole list of other parts that are used in ARs. Even if it has their logo and information stamped in it. Remember when JD/Kaiser was making the lowers and uppers for Noveske? They didn't have a single mark on them that said anything onther than Noveske, but they were made by JD just the same. The same goes for most of these other parts that people are sure are special because of where they got it from and what it says on it. In many cases, all you are paying for is the logo. Yes, there are different levels of quality. But some of the differences only exist in people's heads. How many machine shops out there do you think will go through all of the expense just to make a buffer tube? It costs a lot of money to set up a production line. And where is the margine on it for them? They have to sell a LOT of tubes to make that up and make it profitable for them. That is really hard to do when there are already large shops set up out there cranking them out, and people are more than happy to save a couple of bucks going with the already established brands out there.

The DSA tube is used by MANY big box companies, even though I do not believe DSA makes them.

The UTG is crud IMHO.

Yes, I would like to ammend my prior statement. Anything made by UTG does NOT belong on a real firearm. Some of their rails are barely acceptable for people on a tight budget. Anything else is just asking for trouble.
