I am looking at a buying S&W 686-6 with power port wondering what it is actually worth. on the arm that the cylinder mounts to it is engraved 130, serial number CHE**62 The only thing that seems to be wrong with it is that the cylinder seems to be lose when it is in the open position. But other than that it is in good condition maybe had 800 rounds through it.

thanks that gives me a better Idea. Also the gun in question has the internal lock. Also when I tilt the revolver back with the cylinder open the cylinder slides back and hits the frame, is that normal. My model 66 does'nt do this that why I ask

sounds like the ejector rod is loose no big deal just needs to be tightened up

Most of my S&W wheelies have this "feature".

I tried edcs1 recmendation but it did'nt seem to help. If this is indeed normal, is there a way to correct this problem

most of my smiths have a little play i dont know how much your taliking about usually if the ejector rod is loose it will hang up a little when opening the cylinder ,if it closes fine as if you were loading it with the muzzle pointed down it should be alright. 800 rounds is nothing for a s&w

It closes fine but seems to have excessive play b ecause it hits the frame when you tilt it back, other than that it seems to operate fine, I just cleaned it today (took me 2 hours) and it almost looks new for hardly ever being cleaned since it was new. My buddy is asking 400 dollars for it. don't know what he paid for it new.
