View Full Version : Sticking Dies

I've been running my Lee Pro for a bit over a year and noticed the powder through expanding die causes the cases to stick quite a bit just to get a proper expanded mouth. I cleaned the die with brake cleaner, so now it's spick and span, but it still sticks really bad. Is it time for a new die?

Oh crap, I thought I had carbide dies, maybe not? Guess I should make a switch then. :kest:

Carbide dies for straight wall cases do not require lube, but if they are for bottleneck cases, they should still be lubed.

Lube inside the case mouth when expanding (and charging powder) is not the way to go. Try taking the die apart and polishing the expanding plug with emery paper. Some of them can be pretty rough. One of mine does the same thing. Keep meaning to fix it, but I haven't yet.

My setup is for 9mm. Good idea, Emma, thanks!
