I want to reload for my AR and I am not yet interested in loading a match grade round. Maybe when I get a bolt gun, but that is a different story. I was looking at the redding deluxe die set for 223 and I saw that it has a full length sizing die and a neck sizing die. Is there a reason to use both or do you use one or the other?

Use the Full Length sizing die for semi auto firearms.
Use the neck sizing die for your bolt action. when needed use the FL sizer to bump back the shoulder.

Me? I would normally use both untill I started using the Wilson dies and arbor press.

I don't use a small base die and have never had a problem in my AR.

The dillon 223 dies are good enough for AR use.
