Make sure the seller agrees to ship to California as I've seen many stipulate that they will not ship to Cali. AS for fees you need to ask the accepting FFL

Gunbroker has a list of FFLs sorted by zip code. Otherwise, if you want to TELL someone where you are, California being a big state, you might get some offers. The FFL can tell you, to the penny, how much it will cost. Be sitting down at that time.

Yup, bought my Marlin 925RM from them three weeks ago ($182.00 w/free shipping). Took them 2 weeks just to get it to my FFL guy----and I still don't have it my dirty little hands. They're very nice people but I think my on-line buying days are over. 'Cuz my other Marlin rifle I bought last Friday at Turner's and I can pick that up Tuesday, and the Rough Rider I bought at Stockade the other day ($24.00 cheaper than any 'net store) will be ready to shoot on the 20th.....

lots of people have and they have good prices. Problem is, after you factor in all the fees the FFL is going to charge you may not be money ahead anymore.

I assume that you confirmed that this gun you are looking at is on the CA safe roster? (assuming it is a handgun)

He's not charging s/tax 'cuz he's back east. But your Cali FFL guy most surely will, so you're s'd either way.....

Find a FFL who doesn't charge the USE TAX. Then it will be in your hands to claim it on your taxes.

Where in Cali are you?

I picked up a crickett for my youngest daughter a couple of weeks back from them. Even with the transfer fees, DROS and sales tax, I am still ahead by about $15-20. They were professional, if not super fast. Make sure you take the fees into account before you buy though. You may end up actually paying more once it is all said and done.

Sales tax.

Only if you fess up to it at tax time.

OP get all your ducks in a row before you order. Your need to find a FFL who will accept out of state, the out of state vendor will need to send a CFLC letter with the gun, if it's a handgun(not a C&R) it will need to be on the roster or will need to be setup for single shot and make sure the gun doesn't ship with mags over 10 rounds.

Hmmmm, better verify the 'double action' part being allowable in Cali, cuz I think that me be a no-no here. The reason I say this is because I found some very nice H&R revolvers on an auction site back east for cheap, but they weren't allowed to be brought in her. So I settled for a single action Rough Rider instead........

Either the FFL thinks it is a PPT, or you are getting the deal of the decade.

??? That's incorrect. There is nothing that bars a new pistol in CA because it's double action.
Heck even the HSC test wants you to know the difference between DA and SA.
You unfortunately got duped by listening to FUD from a shop on the other side of the country. The roster is full of DA autos and revolver models.

That pistol is fine and listed on the roster.

"M&P 40 (Mag. Safety, Internal Lock) / Stainless Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.25" .40 S&W 11/30/2011"

Just bought a Rossi 357 lever from Buds. My FFL didn't charge me sales tax but said he'd have to in the future due to BOE coming down on them.....sucks.

well if he does charge me taxes it still wont be bad. I paid 497 for the gun 35 for the transfer fee and say 44 bucks for taxes that puts it at 576 which is not bad cause Turners has the gun for 569 and if i went that route i would of paid over 600.

Just be fore warned that if you went with their free shipping, then your 10 wait will realistically be more like 22. Or more....

Well i got another email stating that my order is now in the shipping department.

I bought my 925RM on February 16th. Took thirteen days to get to Kemasa in Simi Valley. And I can officially pick it up tomorrow morning. Finally.

No more online/free shipping stuff for me----unless it's both a smokin' deal and I won't be needing it for three years......:D
