I have been working on finishing my rifle for the last few months. I took off my solid mounted Weaver 1x3 scope and added a Trijicon 1x4 with green triagle. Upper is BCM 16" mid length. Lower is a Mega Gator. HAndguard is a JP. I added a JP 1:30 mount and added one one the handguard. The rifle is for 3 gun and SHTF. I wanted something that I could use without having to take the scope off. Flip up sights are Magpul MBIUS. The sights are on line with the bore as opposed to using just 45 degree mounts. Just roll teh rifle to the side. The one thing I wanted was an optic that did not need bateries. The last changes will be a JP trigger, Trijicon front sight, and finally a paint job. Pictures suck but you get the point.

Not living on the edge. Verified twice that there was not a round in the chamber. Yea , I need to get a light. Trying to decide what to go with.

Just as some friendly advice a race gun and a SHTF gun are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I tried to find a compromise and just ended up building two guns.

I agree with you. Some day I will build an 18" race gun. Much of this rifle is BCM and milspec. Not expecting it to be a race gun but I don't plan to hand much more crap off of it. It just comes down to me needing to get six lucky numbers on the lotto.

what brand/model are the offset rails?

I don't get it.

Why the off set sights? If you have the Trijicon 1-4x; first, no batteries needed, right? Second, shouldn't you be able to co-witness the iron sights under the 1x power?

I could be completely off. I ran into this dilemma for 3-gun, but I had a fixed 3x scope. Now I have a 1-4x scope that has a default black reticle if the batteries fail. Good enough for 3-gun, but I suppose there is a purpose for SHTF.

The handguard is a JP and the reciever mount is a JP 1:30 mount. The rear mnount was expensive but it is the only one that I know of on the market. The front mount is a 2" piece of rail bolted to the handguard.

As for using the sites I have them for back up so that you do not have to switch between 4x and 1x as I think this may be quicker. Also the sites in this location are on line with the bore so I can shoot them out to 300 yards if need be. Plus you can not co witness the sights through the scope.

I plan on adding a cat tail at some point. With the off set sites I do not have to remove the scope if they are needed.
