View Full Version : Front Sight for a S&W Model 14-2

Greetings Everyone,

I picked up a fairly minty Model 14-2. The finish and lock-up are great.

When I took it out to the range it shot about 6" high with the rear sight bottomed out.

I stopped a local gunsmith to say hi and we were talking about the pistol and he asked to take a look. It looked like someone had taken a hacksaw to the front sight (and narrowed the target hammer & trigger) to make it into a carry gun.

We were finally able to remove the front sight and it didn't look anything like what we were expecting it to. Here's a picture 64448

So to you old time S&W owners, any idea where I might be able to find a replacement (already checked Brownells, Midway and a couple of smaller outfits). Or does anyone know of anyone in the San Diego who does good TIG welding to build up the top edge and repair/replace the hole and add metal to the base.

This is a great pistol and I'd really like to get it repaired.

The first place I always look is e-gunparts.com (http://www.gunpartscorp.com/) (Numrich Arms).
But right now their website seems to be having a coniption.

Check with these guys: http://www.jackfirstgun.com/order.php

And you might get lucky here: http://www.poppertsgunparts.com/

Someone on S&W forums recently had some brand new Model 14 front sights for sale.
