Ironworks Design and finish myself, the new Timbersmith ones from Tasco that are already finished, or keep the Plum Tasco stock that's on it?

Is it a AK47, AK74, or RPK?

Maybe KVAR US made plum? If so, I vote plum.

Not sure if it's a Tasco, Kvar, etc. I'll have to look at it more closely. So far I'm leaning towards wood. It's for a Romy WASR.

I will trade you a refinished wood for the plum.

I had plum on mine at one time and didn't really like it.
I bought a set of laminated for my Maadi from Ironwood and finished it with yellow shellac. Turned out really nice.

The WASR wood is not that good looking, IMO.

I vote... put some picture up of the AK first until let us decide from there. I am very partial to IronWood since they are in the Bay Area and all of their stuff I have seen looks great.

This guy had an issue with his Timbersmith stock set from Tapco. http://www.theakforum.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=129811&start=75 Apparently it cracked on him after a very small amount of use. It's mentioned on page 4 of the thread. Yeah he used it for a custom x54 build, but still I'd expect more from a product Tapco gets behind. While ugly a lot of their stuff is very durable. I myself would probably go with the Ironwood or with the plum stock set, especially if it's a Bulgarian stock set like the ones you can get from K-var.

I like the quality of the ironwood stuff, judging by the pics on thier site they look to be a better quality, accurate copy of factory stock sets. What color stain were you thinking about? Please post pics once you install the new furniture.

The quality of the wood on a Romy matches the quality of the rest of the rifle. IMO, you should keep it.

You can still pickup romanian wood sets for cheap. Refinish one if you want (and carve up the front HG to remove the donkey dong if that suits your fancy).
