Link (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-kagan-20100702,0,3824189.story) to LA Times story. So much for the gag order!

Whoa, what gives? I was actually not-severely-unpleased with this pick, considering it's Obama.

She's terrible, but not so bad as Sotomayor.

 What gag order?

The one that NRA had issued to it's board members. I'd link to it but it's a PITA on an iPod. Google should bring it up quick.

Erick Erickson at redstate.com claims to have emails that NRA sent to its board members telling them not to speak out against Elena Kagan's confirmation. He is painting this as indicative of them getting soft on the left in Washington. (He's the same guy who claimed that NRA cut a deal with the Disclose Act, something which they deny.) See http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/06/27/nra-issues-gag-order-to-its-board-members-on-elena-kagan/

NRA denies that any such gag order exists:

http://www.snowflakesinhell.com/2010/06/29/the-gag-order-rumor-is-unequivocally-false/

Read both and make your own decision, but to me it appears that Mr. Erickson got a good deal on some of Eris' golden apples.

Good! This woman is blatantly anti-2nd Amendment. I'm glad the NRA is making it perfectly clear in voicing that American gun owners consider her to be a serious threat to the Constitution, and a bad candidate for the Supreme Court. We're looking at the right hand of Feinstein. Hell yeah I want it noted that some people aren't happy about this!

She is a left leaning liberal attorney. That is EXACTLY why Obama nominated her. And when you review her comments and back pedaling about her denying
military recruiters to her University ( Harvard was it? ) we can count on her NOT Being a friend the Second Amendment. Stand by because she and Justice Sotomayor will have the rest of their lives to raise havoc with the progress we've just seen. And yes..I believe Kagan is a shoe in for confirmation.

While I wouldn't be surprised if she got the seat, much to the dismay of anybody who actually likes this country, I wouldn't go so far as to say she's a shoe in. There are a fair number of politicians who'd really like to get reelected, and are probably scrambling for anything that will help them regain the ground lost by forcing the health care bill through the way they did. Some of them might bend enough to pass on this nominee...hopefully enough to send a firm message that a real 2A supporter on the bench might buy them enough political capital to not all get voted out next election they're up for.

They might already have the far leaning libs voting for them regardless, but the moderates and conservatives have plenty of ticked off people ready to rally to make them jobless, and a real 2A judge might be the ticket to winning enough of them back.

I'd be willing to see them all get another term if they put another Justice Thomas on the bench. ok ok, that might be a bit of a daydream...but heck, I'd work for the Pelosi campaign if it would put another Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court.

Another socialism loving ultra lib-dem in a position of immense power over the country. Unbelievable, and tragic.

They both have a selective interpretation of the constitution. Sotomayor is a idealogue and clearly has no professional ethics as shown by her vote in McDonald. Kagan is no better. Obama wants to appoint activists who will twist the law to achieve their objectives.
