I am all for selling off a Sig no matter what the reason. Half kidding. If you do not have several grand to spend, you might want to consider a Glock instead. If a Glock is not your cup of tea, the I say get the 1911. There is a huge amount of difference between entry level 1911s, mid-range 1911s, and high-end 1911s. But I would take even an entry level 1911 over a Sig any day.

There is no question a $5K 1911 is the Ferrari of the handgun world and will give you a stiffy every time you pull the trigger. But there is nothing so special about a $1500 1911 when compare to a $700 or less Glock for example that makes it worth the extra money. Compared to a Sig, however, the SAO action of the entry level 1911 is a big improvement.

Now if you could carry your Sig Cocked and Locked like an HK USP v1, I would love it and say keep it for life. I am just not a fan of DA/SA handguns that have a decocker as a safety. That one little feature is no go item for me. Everything else about it is great. No question they are well made, accurate, and a cut above a vast majority of guns on the market. Just not better than Glocks and 1911s due to the combination of DA/SA action and decocker for a safety ...and don't get me started on Sigs new modular trigger that has a reset so long you have to completely release the trigger between each shot...man is that a bad idea.

My handgun preferences as far as all around appreciation are Uber Expensive 1911, Glock, Midrange 1911, HK USP v1, Entry Level 1911, and I am undecided on whether to add Springfield XDs and Walther PPS to the tail end of that list because I have not had enough time on them to know if I like them or not yet.

For concealed carry, right now a Glock tops the list only because 1911s can be a tad temperamental in comparison especially the really pricy ones (just like a Ferrari).

But yes, if I had to choose between a Sig and a 1911 I would choose a 1911 every time.

If you're considering selling your gun to buy another one, you obviously don't like it that much. So do it, and good luck finding something else that will suit you better.

What he says.

I have a P226: Love it and cheap to shoot.
I have a 1911: Love it not as cheap to shoot.
I don't currently have a CZ: No love, no shoot.

Agree 100%, you won't have any buyers remorse selling the Sig to get this (or another high quality 1911 like Springfield Armory).

Tactical City - "But there is nothing so special about a $1500 1911 when compare to a $700 or less Glock for example that makes it worth the extra money. "

Have to say I completely disagree with that statement. My $1,200 Kimber 1911 is a world apart from the Glock I had recently (and sold right after discovering Kimber 1911's).

if you dont like your siggy, sell it but if you like it, you shouldn't sell it. Have you shot a 1911 yet? if not, you should rent one and see if you even like it. if you do like the 1911 more then the sig, sell the sig and get the 1911.

BTW: why the f do people say get a cz??? they are really not that good. I mean their not bad but they arnt the best guns one can buy. seriously! I suggest if you rent or borrow a CZ and like it, sure get it but why in the F would anyone just go out and buy one? And yes I have shot a few CZs and their ok but I would never buy one.

1. Their not the most accurate guns
2. Their not the lightest guns
3. Their not the cheapest guns
4. Their not the best looking guns
5. They dont really have any special features.

the only reason why anyone should buy a CZ is if they like the feel of it and they like shooting it. That goes for any gun, not just cz guns. christ, your f@g nuggets really gotta climb down your mighty mountain and come down to reality!

So many of these posts are about what others like and what others think you should get based on what they like.

The first thing you need to find out is what weapon system you are effective with.

I had a SA MC Operator 1911 for years. It was a blast to shoot but frankly I sucked with it. I recently picked up a Glock 19 in a trade with a CalGuns member and found I was way more effective with the Glock then I ever was with the 1911. Also used my friends Sig 226 and am pretty damn good with that as well.

The double action / single action doesn't bother me that much. But I don't really care for the long trigger reset on the 226.

Anyway you should hit the range and rent a variety of weapons systems to find out what works best for you before you go off and drop another grand plus on a pistol that may or may not be what you want.

But thats just my 2 cents. Good luck with your search.

Hmmm. I think Franks account got hacked. Or perhaps he's having a bout of temporary insanity. Either way, he's not selling the Sig.

Please move along... There's nothing to see here!

Sellers remorse sucks. So buy the 1911, then re-affirm you want to sell the Sig.

If you still want to dispose of it, no harm-no foul (& x-tra $ for ammo stockpile!). If you decide you like options, then you just saved money in the long run.

If its worth it, it is worth saving up for...

umm keep the P226 you have, that BTFO is sick, don't sell it, not that many of them right now...

As far as people complaining about sigs, or their DA/SA, or their decocker.. thats all opinion, and BTW they are in the minority! Review after review, P220, P226, P229, P239, etc all of these weapons are very highly regarded as being safe, reliable, effective, and accurate.

Tacticalcity said this.. "I am just not a fan of DA/SA handguns that have a decocker as a safety. That one little feature is no go item for me. Everything else about it is great. No question they are well made, accurate, and a cut above a vast majority of guns on the market. hmm, Sigs are not better than Glocks!?!?! I laughed when I saw that. The DA/SA of the Sig is good enough for police, Coast Guard, Dept of Home Land Security, and armed professionals all over the world. I could go on all day about how many people love, trust their life's to Sigs and prefer them over anything, but not now. BTW, the decocker IS NOT A SAFETY, the sig doesn't have a safety, and neither does a Glock anyways. There is a less common Sig with SAO and it does have a manual safety.

Anyways, keep that Sig or sell it to me! Do not get rid of it for a Glock! 1911's are great of coarse!
